My second venture into Minecraft survival worked out just like the first... I get distracted and don't put anything in storage and then this happened, it's kind of funny, and now I need to get resource again, but it's all good fun and am not going to give up!
But and this is a big BUT, I did make a bed!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YEAH!!!!!!!!
Not bad, I myself can get too carried away but I try to stay close by to a base/house at first then if I'm feeling confident enough explore (mining on different levels not so much but if going between biomes I mean) and risk only things I know I'm ok with (tools, crafting table, furnace and other cheap stuff).
Best to have a water bucket/cobblestone (for lava or mob pushing), torches everywhere XD or chests I guess if you wanted to make sure you can get your stuff if you have too much or venture out too far.
Otherwise great video. Good luck with starting your channel.
Strange, I sent a reply to this earlier tonight but it seems to have vanished.
I really like your attitude and the video was very well concieved and executed. Kudos to you.
A few tips or ideas:
Kill the sheep to get wool for a bed. You get mutton as food also and you can find more sheep later if you decide to farm them.
Light up everywhere underground you intend to be. Make LOTS of torches. You can use 'F3' debug screen and walk around to see if any areas are below 8 light level.
Caught outside at sunset, dig straight down 3 blockks and cap over with dirt. Safe for the night you may lose 10 minutes or so RT but you live till another day.
Try to get iron armor as soon as possible. Even 1 or 2 of the pieces will help you a lot.
Always keep you hunger bars full. You can't heal if you're hungry.
Sword is good to have but in a pinch a pick or axe makes a good weapon also.
Water bucket is a great addition but you don't really need it till you are doing a lot of really deep mining, I'd make the armor first.
Just a few off-the-cuff ideas, but don't worry, as most of us have died quite a few times for numerous reasons in early game. Have fun and enjoy the game.
Thanks for the tips and feedback, I must admit I didn't expect to get lost while making a bed lol. I just wanted more food so went for that last pig and... well you saw what happened haha. I lost all the tourches and I spent so long getting all the resource, but there is a lot more in the mob base under my "house", I blocked off a path down there in the first video as there was a zombie. Looking forward to getting back in there again!
Thanks for the complement on the video, I'm just starting out and am still not comfortable talking to nothing yet so there are a few cuts and trying to keep it interesting.
Thanks for the tip on the F3 for lighting, my first video was really dark, like couldn't see anything when it was on youtube!
The tip on digging down 3 seems so simple and something I should have thought of haha, I'll remember that one! I got lost getting pigs so you can see it'll be needed!
I did have iron armour... but I lost it in the burn, so will need more ASAP.
Thanks, death is something that will happen a lot I'm sure but I'm not giving up, have some more ideas that will be coming soon!
I enjoyed episodes 1 and 2. You’ve got a great speaking voice and diction for making videos. What set your videos apart from other Minecraft series I have watched is your approach to the game as a real novice. It was a bit painful to watch your character do things like not lighting up his house and jumping into a cave/mineshaft system without armor, weapons or even a single torch, but it was very entertaining. I am looking forward to future episodes. If you decide to continue this series along this vein it might be a good idea to think about who your viewership is and “brand” the series to set it apart from others.
Hi Toadrunner, thanks for the feedback and support, I'm really just getting used to everything and it is a huge learning curve... I used to play ARK and it felt much easier somehow, but dinos vs zombies, I'm guessing zombies are better at coordinating attacks lol.
I'm just starting out with the channel and wanting to get videos up so at least there is some content, then will start on who I'm aiming at, my first thought for the channel is so far off what it is right now but am enjoying Minecraft for the moment, and a new video is going up today... yes I do die, but am "getting better"? lol.
Thanks again for the views and feedback, I do appreciate it.
