This is going to be the noob's Minecraft experience. While I'm not a total noob, I've never actually stuck with a world long enough to do any mid-end game activities. The difficulty is set on hard to make it more challenging. Also, the world is a random spawn, no seed. Lets get into it!
Day 1:
This is roughly where I spawned. Pretty standard, but there is some interesting terrain off to the side.
Then started the usual early game grind. However, I was lucky enough to spot some exposed stone and coal so I didn't have to go mining just yet.
Also, this wolf somehow seemed to have spawned in a regular forest biome.
I also managed to find a cave and some iron.
Also found a ravine that looks fairly resource-rich. Definitely coming back later to check it out.
Toward the end of the day I found a beehive. Don't know how to use it yet but its an interesting feature. I ended up having to dig a hole in the ground, as I had not yet found enough wool to make a bed.
I mined through the night and managed to get enough iron to make a chest plate, shield, and bucket. This is what my current inventory looks like.
Day 2:
I set off in search of more iron, which I needed to build armor. Definitely helpful to get it earlier in game, as PvE has become increasingly difficult since the 1.9 update.
Managed to get a full set before the day was out.
Also found a second ravine and started a small farm with seeds I had gathered earlier. Ideally I'll be able to get some chickens for arrows and food pretty soon.
Day 3:
I've had some pretty good luck so far, usually don't get full iron for at least 5 in game days. Hoping this luck holds, I set off in search of sunken ships.
The loot was pretty standard, nothing of much value except a buried treasure map.
I ended the day by starting construction on a small base. Once I add a wall the creeper ambushes that result in most early game deaths shouldn't be a concern. Its ugly for now, but I intend to make improvements later.
Let me know if this kind of thing is interesting. Thanks for reading!
I completed the house around day 4. Its as simple 8 by 8 box, but at least it will keep the mobs out. I'll be sure to upgrade it later, as it is pretty ugly as of right now.
Almost as soon as it was finished, I noticed a pillager patrol had spawned. As long as there's no vindicators, pillager patrols tend to be very under powered. I intended to get rid of them in the morning.
While they are a nice feature, they are not difficult enough, being even easier to fight than skeletons. I quickly got rid of them and obtained the long overdue by this point (5 days in), monster hunter achievement. Also, for anyone who knows, do ravagers have a chance of spawning with them?
By this point, I began construction on a diamond level mine. I also began construction on a small perimeter wall around my base. This way, I'll be able to farm during the night. I also intend to build an even larger wall surrounding the first one. Also a pick of my current inventory. Unfortunately no diamonds, but there was a decent amount of iron and lapis.
Here's a screenshot of the completed inner wall. Should be enough to keep hostile mobs out.
A wandering trader also showed up. Didn't have anything I needed. Probably didn't have enough emeralds anyway. I also began construction on the outer wall. It should be large enough to accommodate several farms, and as I'm currently running low on food, they'll definitely be a priority.
Thanks for reading, let me know what you think of the progression so far!
I finished the outer wall between days 8 and 10. When its fully lit, it will provide good a good way to farm and build at night. I also began a small farm for the animals that I would need.
Then I went mining, as I had not yet found diamonds which I would need for an an enchantment table and pickaxe. Fortunately I found some fairly quickly, with two of the deposits being less than two blocks apart. Also plenty of other useful resources as well. Here's a screenshot of the valuables chest, which at this time is looking pretty well stocked for only being around 10 days in.
After that I set out to get some animals, which was made considerably easier by the dual wielding feature. Also a taiga biome in the distance, definitely looking forward to taming dogs and foxes.
My base at night. Clearly, it needs to be lit up in the area between the outer and inner wall. I also added a second story to my house. This is where the enchantment table will go.
With the treasure map I had obtained earlier, I set out in search of the treasure, which ideally included potatoes.
On the way back I found a sunken ship which had both potatoes and carrots. With these, food shouldn't be a worry.
Here's a screenshot of the current farm. With this, a lot of the early game grind should be over. Then I'll be able to explore and find a town for mending books, so I don't have to worry about mining diamonds. I already mined enough obsidian for the nether portal, and will probably go there soon.
Stay tuned, and let me know if you enjoyed. Thanks for reading!
I started by doing some mining. While I found quite a few diamonds, I am waiting to mine them until I can get the fortune enchantment. I also put a nether portal in my mine. It was an interesting spawn, had to do some mining to get out of the cave I was in. Didn't end up doing much exploring there, because I didn't have the supplies.
After that, I did some exploring in the overworld, looking for a village. I need the mending books that the librarian villagers can trade you. Didn't find one, but did find another bee hive and an interesting snowy taiga biome on top of a mountain.
I hadn't gotten enough string to craft a bow yet, so I went out to fight mobs at night. It is probably a feature specific to hard mode, but almost half of the skeletons and zombies had enchanted gear of some kind. By the next day, I had enough string to craft a bow, and as a bonus, one of the skeletons had dropped a power two bow.
This post was a little shorter than usual, but as soon as the early game grind is complete, I intend to do some exploring and find villages. Let me know what you think, and thanks for reading!
I started by setting off exploring a ravine by my base to top off on iron. Nothing to interesting, just a couple zombies and about half a stack of iron.
Next I set off in search of a village, which is generally a necessity for mending books. After crossing some mountains, I found one in a spruce forest. There were also plenty of dogs, which my few bones were quickly used to tame. Also a wandering trader, which I unfortunately did not have enough emeralds to make use of.
I checked it out before heading back to my main base to resupply. It was pretty small, only 5 total structures and the same number of villagers. The loot was ok, nothing that good. Also, it seems to have spawned without an iron golem.
After returning, I pillared up to get all of the village in one screenshot. Unfortunately, its pretty small, but will still be very useful, especially since the few villagers can be given new professions. I quickly walled it in and lit it up to keep the mobs out. Found some more loot, but it was also not that good. I intend to set up a farm, and start leveling up the villagers. The enchanting room is also almost done, so I can get some better gear pretty soon.
Let me know what you think, and thanks for reading!
I started by exploring in search of another village, because the one I have now is pretty small, having only a couple of decent villagers. Didn't find a village, but did find some interesting terrain and plenty of beehives, which I intend to make use of later.
Also found some foxes. Unfortunately they didn't breed, so I'll have to try again later.
Because I didn't find a larger village, I'll just level up and breed the villagers I have. Some of the weaponsmith's trades seem pretty good, got iron axes for one emerald each. This was a shorter post, but next time I intend to work on and expand the village. Also need to go to the nether for blaze rods and fortress loot soon, so it should be longer and more interesting.
Let me know what you think of the progress so far, and thanks for reading!
I started by going into the nether in search of a fortress, for blaze rods and loot. Found one pretty quickly, seems to be fairly large.
It also had some ok loot, only explored about half of it, just enough to get some stuff and hurry back, as I only have iron armor, and the bow is on low durability. Managed to find a saddle and some horse armor, along with a couple of diamonds.
This is a screenshot of my inventory after I went back. Pretty good stuff, definitely intend on fully exploring it later, probably with better gear.
After that, I finished the enchantment table. Got a fortune three efficiency four pickaxe for the first enchant, so I should be getting diamond gear soon. Also put the saddle on a horse. The trip to the village went way faster up until the mountain, probably need to build a road.
I started leveling up the villagers again, seems to be a good way to get stuff efficiently. Unfortunately, a zombie somehow spawned, and now I only have a farmer left. With only a farmer left, and no nearby villages, I'll probably have to figure out how to cure a zombie villager and breed them. If anyone knows how to go about fixing this, feel free to give tips in the replies section.
Let me know what you think, and thanks for reading!
To get and cure a zombie, you first have to go to the nether to get stuff for potion making. You nead a splash potion of weakness and a golden apple and a bunch of tutorials will show you how.
To capture a ZV I built a 2 tall pillar with other 2 tall pillars around but 1 block away from it. Stood there nights with a bow killing off all mobs as soon as soon as the appeared until a ZV came along, then captured him as he wandered around the base of my pillar by putting blocks between the pillars at the 2 level and capping over to keep him from sun when dawn came. After curing him I got him in a boat and took him off to a breeder. Need to do this twice to start the breeding.
There are probably easier ways, but this worked for me.

Thanks for the reply! I'll definitely try this, probably be a long grind for a few nights tho.
I continued to wait for a zombie villager, because one had still not spawned yet. During the day, I also constructed a simple tunnel through the mountains. It is large enough to accommodate a horse, and probably cuts the journey from the main base to the village almost in half. Also, the squids keep throwing themselves onto land and dying. Don't know why they weren't updated along with everything else in 1.13, because they're currently pretty useless, it would be nice if they at least dropped calamari or were useful is some way besides inc sacs.
At this point, the zombies are starting to spawn in large groups, probably part of the zombie siege mechanic. Still no zombie villagers. This post is unfortunately a little shorter than others, waiting for a zombie villager to spawn doesn't make for great content. However, if the zombie sieges continue, one should spawn soon.
Let me know what you think, and thanks for reading!
Back to waiting fro a zombie villager, one still hasn't spawned yet. Unfortunately, I also read that zombie villagers no longer spawn as part of zombie sieges. Got some nice gear from killing mobs though. If anyone knows how to find one faster, let me know.

Learn something new each day
Thanks for the reply! I'll definitely try this, probably be a long grind for a few nights tho.
Days 48 - 54:
I started off by setting up an area in front of the village to trap a zombie villager. Had to clear a lot of trees in order to increase spawning area.
After a bunch of nights, one was still yet to spawn. Also, a good portion of the mobs spawn with gear by this point.
Some phantoms started to spawn, and I was getting low on gear, so I headed back to the main base. Here's a screenshot of the farm so far.
Unfortunately, this post was a little shorter than usual, not much to do until I can get a zombie villager cured. Thanks for reading!
Days 54 - 60:
I continued to wait for a zombie villager, because one had still not spawned yet. During the day, I also constructed a simple tunnel through the mountains.
