Hey cool, my lava cathedral made it on to the list without me even knowing the existance of this thread:P
Thanks champ!
You're welcome.

I'm commenting in here now so I remember to check this list of links again next time I'm on. This looks like quite an extensive read, though. Thanks for the list, I'll be sure to check them all out!
Glad you like it.

Your first link is wrong, that's about boats not minecarts.
Well spotted, fixed. I thought for sure it was about minecarts being pushed down a water flume and controlled by a door. Now I need to go find that link...
This thread is instant win for me. I been looking for some ideas on some new stuff to do and this just provided the fun. Thanks!
I'm glad it has helped you out.
I've had a couple new additions, but not nearly as many as usual it seems. The further back I go in the alpha forums, the more pointless the threads are...
I have also highlighted my personal favorite 10% of each category rounded up. Congratulations to those who made the cut.
What's your stance on debate threads? Have you read all the great ones? I think it would be cool if you did annotated debate threads. Tedious for you, I know, but as a concept it's interesting. I almost want to start a thread in the Off-Topic forum Titled "What's your stance on debate threads?" Would that be a $#!% storm or what?
would the universe implode? Anyway, great thread you got here.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Bad design on the mug led to water and magma occasionally forming blockages. A catwalk allows access to fix these, in a recent cleaning attempt two legendary miners slipped on water on the catwalk and fell to their deaths in the obsidian mold.

I read most of them, yes. I tend to dislike them, especially when they become super huge. Firstly, they tend to become emotionally charged. When emotions are the primary motivation in a debate, people seem to find explanations based on logic to support opinions actually based on how they feel about it. The result is that even when you poke holes in their argument, they never admit they are wrong or even slightly wrong and the debate spins in circles. Secondly, since they stall as a thread and there is no forward moving change in discussion, it pushes potentially useful threads ever downwards on the boards. Having a real debate demands impartiality in emotion and a dedication to airtight logical arguments that avoid logical fallacies. I find that forums tend not to have the ability to do that. Lastly, they reach a critical mass where the thread becomes so long (usually due to the argument spinning in circles) that it becomes unlikely that newcomers to the thread actually read what has been said previous and they merely address the main point of the thread. This results in the argument treading water even more than it did before, stalling even more, and endlessly bumping other threads down. In conclusion, they are, in my opinion, interesting for the first handful of pages, but then they become thoroughly irritating for the rest.
and you, my friend, have just made the absolutely perfect analysis of every debate thread that has ever existed on these forums. completely agree. bump in disguise
I think I may have something for you now, just let me post it with all its stuff.
