I acquired full iron, then found a two building village on my first day. ( in the desert.) I decided to make my base there, and I also found a temple. That night zombies raided the place and I was forced to abandon ship while the three villagers held out so finally I built a house, turned mode to peaceful, and then I burned everything armor/weapon related and built a small hut
I've finally finished my iron farm. The villagers are still breeding, so it hasn't produced anything yet. (I finished it earlier today, so I'll be patient. )
Since the spawning platforms in the iron farm design require water (four buckets of water per platform), I finally had a use for some of the buckets that I've made from excess tin. (I have a recipe for making buckets out of the tin from Forestry and Thermal Expansion.)
I got my second mining tunnel down to the depths that I want to mine, too. I found a bunch of redstone and some gold as well as some iron and coal. I haven't found any diamonds in there yet, though. The mine itself is a column mine. Currently, it has two levels. The lower level is at the depth where diamonds generate, while the upper level isn't.
While digging the tunnel, I sort-of cheated when it came to avoiding caves since I used my minimap to see where caves were. For those who don't know, Zan's Minimap (aka VoxelMap) switches to a cave view when you are far enough underground. It's helpful for seeing where caves are whether you're looking for them or trying to avoid them while digging.
I have made only a little bit of progress on my underground sheep farm, but I'm hoping to at least finish digging the main chamber soon. I still need to put in the ceiling boards, too. That's going to involve filling in space left by gravel that I had to dig out; I've got loads of cobblestone to fill it with, though, so that's easy enough. There's also some ores in the chamber's ceiling, so that's nice.
My next building project is going to be a gold farm. I'm not sure how I'm going to structure it or exactly where I'll build it. I'm going to try to start near the nether's sea level so that I have room to build upward. I still need to build some bridges to larger landmasses, though, since my portal leads to a fairly small island.
I've started actively farming spruce and birch trees. I used to cheat and use some custom recipes (with the Custom Recipes mod) to convert between types of wood, but I got tired of just cheating and decided to actually farm the types of wood I like to build with.
Since my underground sheep farm will follow my usual building style when it comes to underground structures, I'll need lots of birch. My underground structures tend to have spruce floorboards and birch ceiling boards and it's a huge chamber.
I also built an automatic furnace. It's been a great help for smelting large amounts of stuff that I don't want to bother with smelting manually. It's built on a constant redstone clock instead of a comparator-driven mechanism, so there's a little bit of noise near it. I can deal with that, though, especially since it has a lever that I can use to turn it on and off.
I built a RailCraft blast furnace. I had plenty of soul sand and nether brick and might have cheated to get the magma cream I needed so I decided that I could definitely use the steel as well as another good use for the large amounts of charcoal produced by my charcoal maker. Since a blast furnace uses four pieces of charcoal (and a substantial amount of time) for each iron ingot that it makes into steel, that's a lot of charcoal used. With that and my automatic furnace, that charcoal finally has a good purpose!
I used some of the steel from the blast furnace to make a couple of pickaxes and then enchanted them. One got unbreaking II and the other got efficiency II. Not great, but good enough for me. I have started to enchant my iron tools since I want to get the most out of them. Stone tools are disposable for me (part of why I use them for large amounts of digging), but iron and steel tools are more significant for me.
Enchanting tools, weapons, and armor isn't a huge problem for me, either, since I get plenty of experience from smelting stone. I get 4-5 levels from a single batch of stone as well as a little bit for other things. (Well, a "batch" of stone is five stacks, but it still counts as a batch for me.) Yay for smelting experience!
I've started building a machine lab. As of the time I'm writing this, it just has the floorboards and the foundation for the walls. I'm going to take my time with it, though, so I'm not strictly counting it as a major project. It's just going to be a building, after all, not a big mechanism like an iron farm. It will have some machines in it, but those will come later.
That's the story thus far!
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
The source of my intention isn't really crime prevention; my intention is prevention of the lie! Yeah, welcome to the Scatman's world!
I decided to move some of my coloured sheep from the large main pen into their own little pens. Now only the Black, White and Light/Dark Grey sheep occupy the main one ...
I got starting with beekeeping in the Forestry mod. Although I had an Apiarist's Chest with a lot of bees in it, some Apiaries I got from villages while exploring, as well as the Frames in those Apiaries, I hadn't actually set up any of them at my base. I put down 4 of them, 2 Forest, 1 Meadows and 1 Common. In addition I built a few of the basic Forestry machines I will need, such as the Carpenter, Centrifuge and Squeezer.
I also found some good loot in one of the Thaumcraft Barrow Hills, which was easily dealt with as I had only one skeleton and a few zombies spawn inside and got to the spawners (one of each) before any more could appear. One of the chests had an Axe of the Stream. It's the second one of these I have found.
What I am really looking for is a Tropical Hive, but they only seem to spawn in vanilla Jungle biomes, not the EBXL Extreme or Mini-Jungle biomes. I am probably going to have to create a Mystcraft Age to find one.
Right now I am exploring a Mystcraft Age looking for Silverwood saplings. I've cut down 3 trees so far, and no saplings. I did however find another Portal Gun in an Obsidian Ruin in this Age. That makes 4 total I have found so far, but is by no means my record. In my previous world I found 11 Portal Guns.
I went to the Nether to check on my lava pumping system and found a sheep which had gotten out of my animal pen had gone through my portal and was inside the tunnel to the pump room. I picked him up with a Portal Gun and brought him back to the Overworld and put him back with the other animals.
I then went back to check on the pumping system and noticed how low the lava lake below it was getting. I still have quite a bit left to pump from it, but will have to move everything again in the not too distant future.
Back in the Overworld I found that my main source of food, chickens, had mostly died out from glitching into the ground. There were only two left, but since I had plenty of eggs I was able to repopulate them easily.
I also extended my AE system into my Mystcraft room, adding 23 more ME cable and an ME Crafting Terminal to the network.
Earlier I found more Silverwood saplings and now have 7 of them. I have found that what I need to do is plant a second tree nearby, and allow the Aura Node from it to merge with the stronger one in the first tree, instead of planting the tree at the larger Node each time. It is a very slow process and could take several hours or more real time before the Node gets to be a suitable size for use.
I have encountered Wisps spawning - there was a green one above my animal farm one day. This is from the Node near my tree farm which has high Flux. If I go to another dimension, or save and exit and then log on again, the high Flux Node overrides the smaller one until I approach the two Silverwood trees on the north side of my base.
More updates: today I explored quite far from my base (> 3000 blocks) looking for surface lava lakes to fuel my Geothermal Generators. I did not find any, but found a village with purebred Tropical Bees. I took both Princess and Drone back to my base and put them into the Apiarist's chest for now. On the way back I found a Desert Temple, and trying to fly down using my gravity suit I hit the pressure plate blowing up the TNT inside. I probably lost half the loot in the chests, but got some items. My Quantum Armor protected me from any damage.
Later I went back looking for lava lakes and found a large one on the surface. I filled 153 cans of lava from that lake alone. There were others not too far away, and I got a total of 256 cans before coming back again.
I also added a bit of sorting to the input chest of my AE system. I put down an Ender Chest, with an Autarchic Gate set to output items into a Diamond Transport Pipe. Any ore that can be Macerated/Pulverized and Smelted will go into one chest, while anything that does not need processing will go directly into the AE system. The Ender Chest is linked to an Ender Pouch into which I will put everything I pick up while mining or exploring except for junk blocks like cobblestone, dirt or gravel. Those and some other items will go into another Ender Pouch linked to a different Ender Chest of another color combination, and get pulled into my Recyclers. I also hooked those up to the chests on my cobblestone generators, One uses vaniila redstone and pistons, with RP2 Block Breakers, while the other uses TE Igneous Extruders.
Here's what me and my friend have done on our server that's about to be closed down. Please take a look, who knows maybe some of the builds will inspire you to make your own
I did a bit more Thaumcraft research and got the Wand of Fire and Portable Hole. I made both of these, and stored them in an Iron Chest with some of my other Thaumcraft items.
I also explored quite a bit more, looking for surface lava lakes. I filled 5 stacks of cans (320 buckets) full of lava, which all went into my multitank. While exploring I found a villager with an Apiarist offering to trade 2 wheat for a Simmering Comb. These are produced by the Infernal branch of bees, breedable only in the Nether. I had to take some wheat from a farm there, and could only get 3 combs. In addition, I found 2 more pairs of purebred Tropical bees. They went into my Apiarist's chest.
I also separated all my chickens from the rest of my animals, and they have stopped dying out. It appears that the other animals were pushing them into the ground when they were crowded up against a fence.
I did some work on the interior of my house, adding furniture for a kitchen, a bedroom, and a jukebox with all the music discs (except Chirp which I haven't found yet). I set up some wireless access to my ME network so I can access my items, though it has somewhat of a limited range. I also put another ME Access Terminal in the Kitchen.
In the Nether, I built a small stairway out of Nether Brick Stairs to easily reach what is left of the surface lava pool there I was pumping from before I moved everything. There's more than enough lava left in it to last a while, and I have been manually filling 5+ stacks of cans from it, adding Netherrack along the edges so I can safely reach lava further out.
I also set up my Nuclear Reactor to be controlled by the MFS Unit feeding my Mass Fab, so that when I turn it on to make UU Matter, the MFSU will also turn the reactor on and keep it on until fully charged. Although I have a lot of Uranium, it doesn't make any sense to be wasting any of it by running the reactor when it is not needed.
I plan to add some mods to my current setup, such as Bibliocraft and Jammy Furniture. I have older versions of both downloaded.
Reworked the entire interior of my tower (lower half anyway) to remove/cover the bland cobblestone. I forget what texture pack I have off hand but I like the detail, especially with the stone variants:
This is the view from the ground. The white ceiling is the floor of the 'grand hall', which is the top of the bottom half of the full tower.
Moving up the ladder. Full obsidian framework with stone, stone brick, stone brick stairs, stone brick slabs, and stone slabs adorning the interior and framing the stained glass windows.
The 'grand hall'. I intend to decorate and furnish the interior eventually...
From the outside...this is the most recent screenshot, though I've made minor alterations to improve the lighting to remove the dark areas on the exterior. I also have much work to do to spruce up the walls and battlements. I also intend to establish a peasant village outside the gates once I prepare the land and design/build some houses.
I just recently got Minecraft for PS3!
It's much better than Pocket Edition!
I took the addiction test and got 73 Percent! Wow!

I learned a hard lesson not to use an IC2 Mining Laser inside your house. I burned down a large portion of it and had to rebuild.
I added two mods to my setup, Bibliocraft and Jammy Furniture.
For the former, I set up some bookcases in my living room and put several book and quills and enchanted books in them. They don't take ordinary books, though. I also added a couple of tool racks. I have 8 in my main workshop area, with most of the tools I use on them. There are a few that won't go on the racks, so the Diamond Chest is still there. I also put one near my Redstone Energy Cell. I couldn't put my TE Crescent Hammer on it, but it would take my Buildcraft wrench, which works for when I need to reverse the input/output of the cell. I also added an Armor Stand and put a full set of Protection IV (and some other enchants) Diamond Armor on it. I'm mainly wearing my Quantum Armor/Gravitation Suite Chestplate.
I put a sofa and a coffee table plus an armchair from Jammy Furniture in the living room. My jukebox sits on a birch plank next to the bookcases.
In the kitchen, I made the JF appliances, sink and cupboards, plus added a Rubbish Bin. It is made with a lava bucket but appears to only be a chest with a different skin. Off the kitchen, using more JF blocks, I made a bathroom, with a tub, sink and toilet. The kitchen also has a table, chairs and a lamp from that mod. I put chairs in front of the table in my bedroom and all my Thaumcraft blocks plus enchantment table as well. The chairs, armchair, sofa, tub and toilet can be sat in/on
I redid my entry hall after repairing my laser derp (and a really big one it was). In a second hallway beyond the first, I put mob heads from the JF mod. Most do not make any sound, but a few (Steve, Enderman, Blaze, Zombie Pigman, and Creeper) do. The Steve head makes the player's eating sound. The Creeper of course hisses.
I've finally finished my iron farm. The villagers are still breeding, so it hasn't produced anything yet. (I finished it earlier today, so I'll be patient.
