I found a village a far ways from my base. what would be the easiest way to transport them back to my base. Its pretty far away. And the terrain is really hilly so i don't know what the most efficient way would be.
Or find a couple of zombie villagers and cure them.
Zombie villagers are easy to lure where you want, you just have to make sure the path is safe for both of you (no other mobs and no sunlight) and have somewhere to trap them at the other end.
You'd want to toss them something to hold or nametag them so they don't despawn.
(You need to add the name to the nametag on an anvil first or it won't work.)

if you do not have enough rails, transport them partially and break the rails behind you and place them in front
Or use minecart and rails...through the nether. Definitely this one if you plan to move several villagers from the same village to your base.
