I mainly use a texture pack which makes jungle wood into a rich mahogany colour so I often use jungle wood for flooring. I also use birch wood and oak wood too as the wood types all contrast nicely with the white stained clay I use for walls.
What type of floor you want can also be influenced by what the building's purpose is. I built a room for my cobble generator, and in the process of hollowing out the room I discovered a vein of andesite pretty much exactly where I wanted to placed the cobble generator. Next to the cobblestone walls, and in proximity to the cobblegen, I thought it produced a really neat gravel-floor look that drew attention to the cobblegen.
in my opinion, stained clays are the best single blocks for flooring! They come in 16 different colors, and creates a nice sound effect when you walk on them.

For a floor? depends on what the house looks like from the interior and exterior.

Polish diorite and polished andesite in a checkerboard pattern (Using Soartex fanver texture pack)
My opinion is stone brick but it depends on the theme of the house
