@Aelis - You don't really need a mod. Mobs can spawn anywhere with a brightness level (bl) lower than 7. You can find the bl of a given square by hitting F3. Just wandering around an area and keeping an eye on the rating should tell you where you need more light.
Right, and I did that. But a mod would make it much easier when the entire room seems to be all 8's and 9's.
I am rather short before finishing too... a bit of road is still missing and the damn wall... guess then I have all needed things.
For the wall though, some human buildings need to be cleared -.-
Why not incorporate the village into yours? Or are the human buildings *too* ugly?
So, I myself use timber as well, as I hate to climb up some trees just to cut down the huge trees, especially within the jungle (look at my screenshots and renders, I have some of those high trees in my village)
When I am back home, I will make a list of mods I use, thinking they add some stuff, lift a bit of burden and so on and allowing me to concentrate some more on the fun things... building and cursing about those creepers destroying my buildings -.-
I limit the number of mods I use overall myself. My list is easy:
Rei's Minimap (The convience is nice.)
Journey Map (I like being able to save the larger world map.)
When I was in vast deforestation mode in HC1 I did use Timber! as it reduced the grind. It really wouldn't have been a challenge to cut down all those trees, just tedium. And certainly not the elf challenge. Last thing I need is my tree knocked down...
Other than that, ModLoader and graphics mods. No item or mob addition mods.
Noticing that you have had problems with TNT the whole way through, I lowered the TNT requirements just a bit.
Cool beans. I've already got the 32 so maybe I'll actually use some of the excess to clear out some pesky stone where I want the shrine to be. It's a fairly massive excavation and will take a good amount of time either way.
Regarding mods:
Until yesterday the only one I ran was MCLauncher. Now, however, I've abandoned MCLauncher and am now running Forge & Optifine instead. Other than the Armor Stand and Shelf mods I also have the portal gun mod installed...and I have to admit that a good deal of the time I had to play last night was spent flying around in Creative planting sentry turrets & TNT everywhere and launching mobs off the edge of cliffs with the portal gun. Didn't really get much building done, but damn it was fun. lol

I'm using Technic Pack, so I'm sure any of the mods Technic uses is fine to use for this challenge. (Except NEI, I just use that for recipes and stuff, not cheating.)

Nope, still 'page not found.' Weird, because I can view Sheena's hobbit pics just fine. I tried a google search to try to find your pics, but just found Sheena's hobbits again.

How do the picture sharing settings work with Picasa? The pics might be set to friends-only or something like that so you'd be able to view them but I couldn't. For instance, I could link my facebook albums and it'd work fine for me when I clicked the link but you'd get a "content unavailable" error.
I do not know all the settings there, but I have several hidden galleries you can only reach if I hand the link over, others like my challenge-gallery is open to all.
Basic settings that are available are:
- only for me
- for all who have the link
- public
I guess, the gallery might be set to "just for me"

So with 1.3.1 released, are there any plans to revise the rules of the challenge? Thoughts on that include trading with villagers and the spawn chest.
One minor update to my challenges:
1: Dwarf Challenge - Slowly expanding my walls out. I've been blocking off areas with walls. Areas that are well lit are on one side, areas that need to be lit up are on the other side, with a door between them. This way I can push further into mob infested caves without too much risk to my life and limb. Or without too much risk of mobs getting into the dwarf halls. (I feel that there is enough of them to pluralize it.) I also found out that my mining shack's hall is also a slime spawn point. I've already had to kill three giant slimes and one tiny slime. (Not counting the slimes that split from said giant slime...) Oh well. At least I have slimeballs from it.
Congrats on completion of the challenge, Sheena. The hobbit city really looks awesome. Best of luck on your kobold settlement - may your trap-building be auspicious and may you not accidentally fall prey to your own traps as often as I have. lol
Speaking of kobolds, I should probably do an update for my city.
I finally finished constructing the shrine; which is really the only substantial landmark for this update. Here are the double doors leading to the shrine from the city.
Golly, that's a lot of stairs. This shrine must be buried pretty deep.
I am Shade, the spirit of darkness, and an elemental of Mana.
Door to the High Templar's chamber.
The High Templar has some pretty nice duds, yo.
Hey...what's this for?
Now that's interesting...I thought that bookcase looked suspicious. I wonder what that lever does.
What on earth!? A secret passage in the shrine? Where does that lead?
Oh. I guess that makes about as much sense as anything.
Speaking of portals, I finally got that bonfire made properly. Now it's and eternal flame!
Unfortunately, that's all I've got for now. Still need to construct more traps and collect a few more apples. Oh, I guess the apple requirements were lowered. Right on.
Right, and I did that. But a mod would make it much easier when the entire room seems to be all 8's and 9's.

Maybe...I still have a lot of traps to make as well as finish the shrine, which is likely going to be one of the most elaborate parts of the build.
