I must've been on Valve Time or something, but I finally finished The Wooden Age. I'm using OptiFine_1.1__HD_MT_D2 and NorthenerSouth's Puilto texture pack.
Here and here you can see the two ends of the wall, as well as the corners of my wheat farm, my cactus and sugarcane farms, the front of my keep, and part of my animals pens.
Here and here, you can see the entire fort from the edge of a nearby desert, as well as said desert.
These are closeups of the front of my keep, my gate, and my animal pens.
Here's the first floor of my keep, the white block is a workbench marking exact spawn.
These are my bedroom and my storage/furnace room. The wool-topped blocks to the sides of the indented chest are furnaces, the one behind is another workbench.
This is my requirements chest. The stack of blocks in the top-left is log. As you can tell by my hotbar, I do have the obligatory sword.
This is my first challenge. So, be gentle, lol. I'm going to try this post out and see how it goes posting pictures with it. These are three images from roughly my first night.
The picture below shows my first enclosure of the spawn point:
This pictures shows the actual original spawn as crafting table:
Here's my first bed:
I've completed the wooden age and will upload those pics shortly...
Okay, so here are some pictures of my completed Wooden Age castle. I've been playing on Hard mode, and died once. Not sure if that matters. I also have a question about moving on to the next Age. Do we have to destroy this castle and rebuild on the exact same spot, or can we move our spawn to a new point and begin building there? At first I wasn't sure how I was going to use this location, but then I just decided to build on the slope and ended up liking the result. But I dont really want to have to destroy this castle. I'd like to somehow (within challenge rules) move my spawn to a new location so that I can build a fresh castle somewhere nearby.
Anyway, on to the pictures:
Here's my treasure chest showing materials requirements, treasure, etc...
Front view of Wooden Castle: walls are actually 4 blocks high with a fence around the top overhanging the wall with cactus below. Several spiders have tried to get me while on the wall and none can.
Side view of Castle from river. The double height windows are the room in the keep with the spawn point.
Original spawn point in keep. Currently is a glass block in floor with a torch below it. Hi pig.
View of castle from nearby lake that river flows into
Back corner of castle at top of hill.
Side view of tower near front gate at top of hill away from river
Looking down from keep. Can see my wheat farm and the pig-pen in the yard.
View of front-gate. Cactus Pit with steps to jump across. Many mobs die here trying to follow me in at night.
In the yard looking back at the keep. Corner of wheat farm in view also.
From the top of the keep looking out over castle
This is the last image: From the river/lake tower above the keep looking out over the whole castle.
I hope you like my castle. And I'm looking forward to moving on to the next Stage. But I would like some help/ideas on the whole spawn location vs new castle. What others are doing maybe? Or what the challenge rules are.

Looks fantastic!
No, you don't have to destroy your castle. The idea was to keep building up stronger walls, creating 'rings' for your fortress. So now you would build a cobble wall around your wooden one for added protection, perhaps using the space in between the two for a few of your buildings.
Very nice challenge and I enjoyed looking at the screenshots, if I ever get bored with my world I will have to take this up! Right now though I've put too much work into it to start up on this lol. Although reading this and thinking about how I would do it has given me alot of ideas how to construct buildings!

Hey, would using glass in the first age be allowed? And if your base is majorly underground, can you make the wall around the entrances instead of all around?
I spawned in a Jungle, right on the edge of the canopy, and built some quick fortifications of wood around my spawn. Next to my spawn point, behind a few trees, I managed to find an EXTREMELY tall Jungle Tree, and I chopped down the base. After that, I made some pickaxes and other tools, and made a staircase down into the mountain to a large cave that opened up beneath my keep. On the side of that staircase, I have a small room where I plan to put my bed. So far, I have a steady supply of coal I can dig whenever. Things are going well.
Challenge accepted. I started out in a jungle, deep enough in that my spawn is surrounded by trees and underbrush...been working on it for three hours and I'm still working on clearing out enough space for proper fortifications. On the bright side, I found a village with diamonds (going to use them to make a block under the spawn point) but I'm still working on finishing the Wooden Age.
Will post back as soon with screenshots once I'm done with the first stage.
Okay, it took me over 15 hours but I finally finished the Wooden Age.
Here's my required items:
Both Jungle and Oak saplings included, as well as all my logs and steaks (cooked beef).
The compound in question:
It's 57 by 57 blocks including the inside portion of the walls and is centered around my spawn. As you can see with the jungle, I had a hell of a time clearing it out. Oh, the main entrance is obscured in this angle but the secondary one is visible on the bottom right corner of the wall.
The pen:
I've got some lovely cows in here.
The farm:
Currently supports 38 wheat. I think that means I'm good for all subsequent ages and that I don't need proof for them.
My spawn:
Found the diamonds (used them all too) from a nearby village.
Bedroom:
Second floor of my keep, you can see the outside from the overall compound view.
Storage Area:
Just a hall way surrounding my spawn point...basically a storage hall. This is just a picture of the chests I currently have. The hall also leads to stairs that go up to my bedroom.
I hope everything is satisfactory. I had to get a flying mod to get a good picture of my wall, hope that doesn't hurt anything since I only used it for the picture... All the jungle clearing was my own work and resulted in numerous deaths. Anyways, I'm going to start on the Stone Age if you don't mind steelefeathers.

P.S.: I use your Enchanted Pack. Wonderful work.
Edit: Image of my totally awesome base.
