Wow, this is a lot of fun. I set up a little server for me and my friends to try this, and it's great! So epic to roleplay being a dryad, along with it.
Well i decided not to do anything and see what happens, and the fired skels/zombies burned up while standing next to my wood but not litting it. bone meal!!!..tho when i opened my hiding hole i got a second hearth attack. As ALL of the arrows a skelly shot at the wall fell down to the ground hitting me (only 1 hearth tho^^)
Haha, aye, I can imagine falling arrows would cause heart attacks indeed! I've experienced that situation myself, you NEVER remember the arrows keep falling when the block they're stuck in is removed. xD
But yeah, you don't need to worry about mobs lighting anything on fire when they burn in the sunlight, fortunately. Just imagine, every forest everywhere would burn after the first night if they did. :tongue.gif:

The most wonderful thing about science is that it doesn't ask for your faith, it asks for your eyes. The universe doesn't care about what you believe.
I've been having a lot of fun with this challenge, but after getting past starving to death I feel like I've been getting off easy. It's been over a week in minecraft days and I've only had 1 zombie and 1 creeper. =/ I don't understand why nothing bothers me.

I decided to make some giant trees before...
Only difficulty is that I decided to make them "world trees", and so gave them roots of iron (blocks), bark of gold, and leaves of diamond.
I am going to start showing what i am doing but I do not know how to post pictures can someone help
You'll need to upload the screenshots you take to any online image hosting site, for example tinypic.com, and link them from there. It provides you with a code-snip ready for posting on forums when you upload the image, which looks something like this:
Although I would like to show you some pictures of my tree, I would have to do it like so:
1- Copy the world from my lap-top to my desk-top
2- Copy Minecraft 1.8 from the Mac to the desktop, deystroying all my mods
3- Go onto the world on the desk-top, then take the screenshots
4- Copy the screen shots back onto the lap-top, so I can upload them
5- Put them into a post.

I took every log from the tree and cheated in a glowstone for the "soul" (that's the only cheating I did), Then my first instinct was to make a "root" to another tree and murder the crao out of it to make my house, but it wasn't enough and I was out of my own tress logs for a longer path, so I chopped some of the tree's "roots" and used them. turns out I also "needed" a crafting table and door, so I ended up using all the logs but 1. I was like "yay my house is done!!" but then a pig walked in front of my house right out of reach. :dry.gif:

Just copy and paste that one for each image you want to show into a post here, and you're all set. :smile.gif:
Thanks

Blazes are nether creatures. You'll probably want to put your nether gate in a bunker, though (with water on your outgoing root) as monsters sometimes appear near them, and you don't want your tree burned down by a ghast or a blaze.
I can point out water buckets don't work in the Nether? Those fires have to be put out by hand!

Indeed! Always have a spare supply of logs. By the way, ghast fireballs don't break cobblestone, stairs, or doors. So you could potentially use a wooden door on the nether side of your gate bunker.

Technically exists.
