So in recent updates, zombies have been getting way too annoying. This is why:
-Every time you hit a zombie, there's a chance it will spawn more, and in turn, they can spawn more, and so on.
- They can see you from a far distance. (Increases w/ difficulty)
-They can pick up your items
-They can set you on fire if they are
- Zombies have AI that makes them group up.
It just becomes such a nuisance that it slows down building projects when I don't have a readily available bed.
And it's almost every night I kill a zombie once, and the endless entourage of zombies will follow that until morning. What do you guys think about this?

If I were you, I would type "zombie" the right way. Typing like that doesn't make you look like a smart person especially as a first impression in the forums.

People are complaining about Skeletons shooting very fast or Creepers keep destroying their builds but I rarely see someone complain about Zombies. I do think Zombies are just fine the way they are. They're melee anyway and you have a better range than them.
Here's a tip: Light up the area with torches around where you are building so that mobs would not spawn in that area. Also, if ever there's a Zombie, the other Zombies it will call will be from outside the "torch area" and you will have more time preparing for more Zombies arriving.
Or just sleep every night. Since you said you don't have a bed and you have to endure the night, kill Spiders and collect 12 Strings. 4 of those would make one Wool and you can make a bed with 12 Strings.
I do agree they are annoying, but that's what makes them zombies. That's what they are....They're annoying and they swarm. Start enchanting your swords, getting loads of stone & iron swords in your inventory as spares, and move around a lot. Don't stand in one place. Move to the left and right, jump and kill them. Expand during the day and do indoor things during the night. Just do what the above poster said.
Also, I find them perfectly fine. Sure, they are annoying but I've now adapted to deal with them by always having more than one sword on the hotbar when using stone tools.
The new AI system of calling up reinforcements does seem to produce some interesting results. I was busy lighting up some underground cave area to help my xp farm about a month ago when I heard this loud hoard of zombies from behind a wall; I thought maybe there was a spawner, but when I hacked a hole thru this mass of zombies broke thru, so many I had to run back a bit and quickly block off the passage I was in. I don't know how many there was, but I made a one block hole and killed them all - took me about about 5 mins - and there was armour drops everywhere and my XP went up from 32 to 44. When I eventually went back thru the wall, it was just largish cave/tunnel system, no spawner, so I don't know how so many spawned. And they were all zombies, no other mob.
Zombies are a very good source of XP in the game. You can easily get many levels of XP without much effort since zombies are very weak mobs, I get even Gold/Iron/Chainmail armor using my Looting II sword from zombies. The fact they swarm is the reason that they can easily give you XP. They can even be killed using a Stone sword (though it'll require few stone swords to clear a horde as stone-items have low durability), though it'll require 4-5 hits. There is also a chance of a Zombie-Villager spawning and thats a good thing if you have a Weakness splash-potion and a golden apple, you can cure them to create your own village. And though zombies keep spawning after you kill one, but if you even stay away, they'll keep spawning (due to the fact that they've a good sight-range and a Horde like AI) and as you run more and more zombies spawn and they eventually kill you. Though the Zombie swarming can be avoided by remaining indoors (but still some zombies will spawn and pound at the door if its wooden and can even break it at hard difficulty). If you're early in the game then just avoid going out when the night falls (what's the point of hunting mobs if you don't have good equipment), once you get Iron-Armor, it will keep you safe from zombies (leather armor also works but its hard to obtain than Iron IMO) and a good Iron sword will help you kill them (but to slay a whole horde I recommend multiple stone swords especially if you don't have enough Iron because Zombies will make your sword lose its durability fast and its best to keep the Iron sword for other powerful). So basically, Zombies aren't a nuisance to me (they're more of a good source of XP to me) but opinions vary, some people may find coping with the groups difficult.
Thanks.

I believe its going to be implemented in the upcoming 1.8 and I also don't find anything productive in this feature, and it may raise problems for someone if they're starting or are in the beginning of the game.
In my hardcore save I wasn't really exploring caves much because I was scared that I'd die. I did end up building my wheat farm over some caves and every time I harvested my wheat or left my house I could hear zombies groaning under the ground.
Zombies are one of the most detailed NBT based mob in the game (aside from villagers and the player himself) The extreme tactical customization, randomization, and awsomithication (yeah I went there) makes it a wonderful mob; as intended by Dinnerbone.
Has the option to pick up one item and amour pieces (moderate % chance, higher in hard)
Can spawn with armor. (higher % in hard)
Can spawn other zombies when attacked (Only in hard)
Can be assigned commander Zombie or backup (only in hard)
Meh, I don't mind zombies. Relatively easy to kill (unless in hordes), and an AI system that I have a new appreciation for after reading Eli_8's post. Sure, baby zombies I dislike, but in all zombies (and Minecraft mobs in general) are becoming more and more lifelike with every update. I salute the developers. And Eli_8, he's awesome.

There are many new feautures to their AI that have been added, which I believe is beacuse before that nobody had scared from them and they were a stupid slow-motion mob that can't even reach you when there's a tree between you and him. So Mojang probably wanted to make them scarier, but they are way too boring and annoying, so they're actually more annoying than scary, But baby zombies are actually a bit scary because they can run, though.
I actually thought zombies were annoying prior to the recent changes to them. I really like the newer updates because they can actually be a threat, and slaying hordes of zombies is pretty fun!
Actually, I think all of these additions are a way to make the game more fun. It gives you a reason to start building base defenses such as arrow cannons or cactus traps. Before the changes, You could sit in your base and not even worry about being killed while being Afk. It's one of those things that makes the game more challenging.

You did a good job there clearing the misunderstanding about Zombies. I also like zombies in the same way.
Thanks.

Yeah I've spent quite a bit of time looking up this stuff. I've always thought it was pretty cool.
