I'm working on my Mob Spawner, and I already have a few ways to kill mobs.
Obviously we have the lava pit, and the lava blade or drowning if you wanna auto kill them and get their loot.
There are TNT traps, suffocation, Iron Golem torture rooms..
What is your favorite unorthodox way to kill hostile mobs?
I was thinking of making a wall-less drop that randomly spaces them out so that I could practice my bow skills.
This wouldn't work for a mob spawner since you'd need to be a good distance away from it, but in one of the previous worlds I had, I had a very tall tower. I would go to the top of it with a fishing pole at night and pull mobs high up into the air and let them fall to their deaths.
Need a good universal mob farm? Check out the Double Shift Towers. Designed for 1.9 and gets 22,000 Items / Hour with a very simple redstone set up - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jL8aoJpjjgU

Thats not a bad idea! Etho does something similar in his single player world with cows..
You could, however, use a water canal to transport the mobs to whatever trap you wanted., such as your fishing tower.

It wasn't as much of a trap or anything, just something I did for fun at nights. There was more than enough mobs outside because I lit up all the local caves very well, but failed at lighting up the surface. So I generally had more than enough mobs to do without a spawner trap or anything.
I had an exp grinder with a suffocation trap anyways if I actually needed mobs for anything I'd go use that.
Either way that was at least a year ago and that world is long gone. Kinda makes me nostalgic though. I may go build a tower or something like that again for fun.

Its not exactly 'killing' them, but when I'm bored and want to make some creepers suffer, I have a cage suspended over an arena full of cats, with pistons to drop the creepers in...
I just came up with this idea: make a torture room that has dispensers all around. When the skeletons die inside, the arrows dropped would go to the dispenser, repeat. INFINITE ARROWS!

I like the theory, but I think it takes more than 2-3 arrows from a dispenser to kill a single skeleton that can drop 0-3 on death. you'd slowly eventually run out of arrows. :/
My favorite way to kill slimes is to attach them to a fishing rod and go up really high, then yank and they go flying in the air and fall to their death. It's pretty funny especially with the big ones.
I like making a few 8 minute fire resistance potion, going to a Nether Fortress, finding a blaze spawner, and watching their pathetic attempts to kill me before I run them throw with a diamond sword!

PROUD USER OF THE STEVE SKIN
Been playing Minecraft for too long.

math homework > minecraft > math homework
That sounds quite entertaining.
