What if the ancestors of creepers saw a human crafting TNT? The creeper was curious, so he decided to investigate. Just then, an ocelot slashed at the creeper, knocking the creeper backwards into the pile of TNT. It exploded, but miraculously, the creeper survived, seriously injured. The creeper absorbed some explosive power, letting it explode at will. The creeper's mouth was deformed from the ocelot's slash, making it its current warped form.
The creeper thought that the human was planning to kill the creeper with help from the ocelot, so that's why creepers have such a hatred toward humans that they are ready to kill themselves to kill humans.
The creeper learned how to creep from his encounter with the sneaky ocelot, but the ocelot was so powerful that the creeper was forever afraid of the ocelot.

Simple. Cats can sprint. Sprinting gets you out of range of the creeper explosion. Cats can attack. Long ago, ocelots became skilled creeper hunters, sprinting in, attaking, then sprinting back in, then repeating until the creepers died. Few creepers escaped. Eventually, creepers were hardwired to be afraid of ocelots through evolution.

For backwards time travel to be possible, wouldn't every instant in the universe have to be stored somewhere, or time to be something physical you could travel through? Either way doesn't work with the current laws of physics.
One night in the land of Minecraftia the evil lord Jeb sat in his throne in the Nether pondering about naked womens. While on his throne he heard a noise, a very whiskery noise. Suddenly it came from the shadows (he had poor lighting), a wild cat. Due to the darkness aggressive mobs spawned, at at that moment a creeper spawned. His diamond outlined walls wouldn't stand a chance, but the creeper wouldn't explode. It seemed to have peed itself. Jeb didn't know why the creeper did that, so he changed the spawn rate of Ocelots from 0.0% to whichever spawn rate they have now.
No idea why they do it. No possible way to find out. It is just WHY.

people in this topic are suggesting great theory's on why creepers are scared of cats
however in my opinion.
long ago. humans found out that they can tame both wolf and cat.
however since wolves were seen as agile and loyal pets (since they attack hostile mobs that threaten the player) they were regarded as great companions. and cats were neglected however one day a small village of humans were attacked by an army of Monsters!
the creepers destroyed the stone walls surrounding the village allowing zombies, skeletons, and spiders to enter the village.
the battle was ferocious, swords were drawn and arrows were sharpened. the battle was almost won by the humans, until a creeper tried to kill the village leader. at the last second the village leader's cat started to slash and claw the hell out of the creeper
therefore saving the village leader from certain death. the creepers and humans noticed this. so the creepers started to flee.
horrified of what a cat could do to a creeper. this scarred them for life and the descendants of creepers are scared of cats this very day. since then humans have used this knowledge to use cats as sentries allowing humans to live safely with the fear of a creeper sneaking up to them.

Creepers are allergic to cat fur because creepers have a complex nose allowing them to sense any players but when cat hair gets inside it the creeper's nose will no longer work.
What a sad, boring world you must live in.
Meh... There's always a downer/hater everywhere.

The creeper learned how to creep from his encounter with the sneaky ocelot, but the ocelot was so powerful that the creeper was forever afraid of the ocelot.
This explains things:
1. How creepers can explode
2. Why creepers have deformed mouths
3. Why creepers are afraid of ocelots
4. Why creepers want to kill humans
A very interesting idea. I like it.
