Hello everyone! First post here, I'm still not entirely sure of the formatting, please bear with me
This is less of a challenge, and more of a set of rules to give you a very different experience playing survival. I originally made this up to experience the aquatic update, and it turned into something I had a great time with! You won't be living in a glass dome with no water, your house will be full of it!
I wanted a challenge that let you play survival with no restrictions on what you can/can't do, but rules in place to give yourself an experience different from survival Minecraft.
Cheats must be enabled on your world for this to work properly! (Your phone with a timer is also recommended as well)
Whenever you spawn in (on world creation, after death), effect yourself with water breathing for 100,00 seconds. Command is:
-You are a merfolk, and as such are adapted to water, not land. Out on land you have 60 seconds of breath until you must return to at least 2 high blocks of water. This time is halved in deserts, Savannah, and the Nether. This starts as soon as you spawn in, find water fast and figure out where to go from there!
-Rain gives you unlimited breath on land in biomes where rain is falling. Snow does not give you any breath bonus.
-Each piece of Fire Protection gear (regardless of level) gives you 15 extra seconds of breath that isn't affected by biome. With 4 pieces, you get 2 minutes of breath or 1.5 minutes in dry biomes.
-Fire Resistance potions gives you breath for the amount of time the potion lasts+your breath once it runs out.
-Set your own rules for what happens when you run out of breath! I had mine instantly kill me due to cheats being enabled, but you can try other things as well!
-Can't use a bucket of water to reset your breath. I played with this rule on, it just makes it a lot more fun for me.
-This means beating the Ender Dragon, Wither, claiming the Elytra, and beating the Ender Dragon again.
-Have a working Conduit near your home base. You'll be raiding lots of treasure chests from ships, so finding Hearts of the Sea should be no problem. Grinding Drowned might take a while though.
-Build a home base under the ocean! Note that certain things like Enchanting tables will not work underwater, so you might need to build a separate dry room in order to enchant. Other than that though, all crafting stations work just fine underwater
-Get every advancement/achievement.
-Have a fully enchanted Trident! (Impaling V, Loyalty III, Unbreaking III, Mending, Channeling/Riptide III)
-Have all your automated farms be underwater. This one I personally haven't tested outside of a Drowned farm I built. You might need to get creative with these!
This challenge does work! I've done an entire playthrough with these rules and had an absolute blast! Picture attached is my final home base
-The Nether will be your worst enemy starting off. This is where I had the most trouble, and I was stuck on it for a while. With the lack of water sources you can make, you'll have to string portals and find a Nether Fortress along with a supply of Nether Warts that you can grab and get back within a minute and a half. After that, the challenge is basically over, but think of that as the final boss.
-Sea Pickles are your best friend! Torches no longer work, but Sea Pickles work just as well and are numerous. You can farm Sea Pickles by using Bone Meal on live Coral.
-Ocean Monuments become much easier, and a decently Enchanted Trident bypasses the Mining Fatigue. Things like Village Raids become much harder though, as you have to watch your Fire Resistance timer.
-Being able to stay underwater
Optional Hardcore Mode:
-Breath timer is halved. You have 30 seconds outside of water, 15 in dry/hot biomes. Fire Protection works as usual.
-Fire Resistance Potions cannot have their timer increased, and only last 3 minutes maximum.
Disclaimer: I have not attempted hardcore mode, I'm not sure if it's even possible. If someone wants to give it a try, be my guest!
Thank you for reading! I apologize for any formatting issues, I hope you give it a try and have as much fun as I did!
