These records are off, some were made with modded clients, the max ores in a vein and lower than some of the records hit here.
It is entirely possible to have ore veins with more ore than they generate in if two ore more veins generate together, which is fairly common with coal (although a 184 coal vein sounds hard to believe; that's around 10 individual veins). Even diamond can possibly be found in veins of up to 40 ore (more likely 32 as 9-10 ore in single vein is very rare and 2x2x2 cubes not so rare); I've found a vein of 12 myself.
(Now, of course, you can just load up a 1.8 snapshot and set the spawn rates to the max; reduce the range so they all spawn in a few layers, thus all overlap, and you'll get one contiguous ore vein covering the entire map)
Also, the OP hasn't updated their post for years now (Updated: February 9, 2011).
I think for largest tnt explosion the rule should be that your minecraft doesnt crash, because if it crashes the explosion never renders, therefore there would be no explosion.
More like 15 GB by now, based on the (1.48 million+; still going to this day) and the figures given on this page when he was about half the distance (7 GB at about 700,000).
(of course, the figure given in the OP is over 3 years old; also, I'm really surprised that Kurt has only walked that far when in 3 months I walked further than that, 1.6 million+* (of course, not in a straight line so my world is less than 100 MB, including the Nether and End); evidently, he only plays for the audience, around 30 minutes every few days)
*I don't have the stats for the world anymore, but in my first world I remember walking more than 3 million meters, around 25% of the distance to the old Far Lands and 10% to the current edge of the world (I'm definitely keeping them now due to how many people don't believe me when I tell them how many caves I've explored, ores mined, torches placed, distance walked, etc; I even back them up (pre-1.7, so saved apart form worlds, also use a separate profile/directory for this reason) just in case of corruption, etc).
lol how can minecraft have world records its a game every single one on here can be beat? lol

just cause science fails to explain something does not mean its real (afterlife, big foot, ghosts etc..) does not mean its fake try to stay opened mined instead of closed

There's world records for everything; of course, this thread isn't official. Also, for my claim of cave exploration I've actually tried Googling to see if there is anybody else out there and I've thus far failed to find anything (most of the results I get are my own). Not that that means that it is definite, of course, but certainly uncommon, or the mapping utility I use, MCMap, isn't that popular; I use it in particular because it only shows caves that have torches in them, making it very easy to see what has actually been explored (aside from not spoilering caves before I find them, I removed naturally generated torches for this reason, although on a vanilla map it is easy to tell what has been explored).
I previously mentioned what I've done; here is an update on the same world that I mentioned previously, shortly after I started it, which is starting to rival my first main world:
In addition, here's a full-size map of my world at layer 20 in Minutor:
In all, I've probably explored over a thousand miles of caves (the 1,000+ miles I've covered in my current world includes going through the same caves more than once), made/placed over a quarter million torches and mined over half a million ore (if you include Fortune, more than half a million pieces of coal in my first world and my current world alone; I also have two other worlds which together are about equivalent to my current world).
(I wonder how many people have even gotten nearly 50,000 iron from iron farms, much less from mining; same for the 6,000 gold)
I did the math, and you could make a minecart rail is, wait for it... OVER 131 km long!!!!!! And I thought my 5.3 km rail was long.

The olddays mod is dead, sorry to tell you.
The far lands generation was epic, why not re-add it?

Largest NPC Village (default):
On a server that I play on I have two villages that have 20 structures total that i found.
The first one is my old residence and has 7 houses, 11 farms, 1 blacksmith, and 1 well.
The top most left house was one i made to try and breed some villagers so it should not count(and wasnt added in my count earlier).
The second village is mostly untouched except for raiding the farms. It has 11 houses, 8 farms, and one well.
I do not know what the seed is due to server policy but i hope the dynamap is enough.
Howabout deepest mineshaft from top to bottom? Only the parts that cut through natural terrain count, so you can't just build a giant dirt stack and cut through it and call it a mineshaft. It also must be accessible for future use.
The first image is the unaltered terrain, second is from the bottom of the freshly dug mineshaft, third is from the top of the finished mineshaft looking down.
Total height: 124 blocks
Seed: SeeD
Version: 1.7.9

I want ocean content(thanks Möjang!), nether biomes(again thanks!!), and savanna passive mobs (meerkats incoming!?).
*sigh* I wished I still had one of my old worlds, or at least taken a picture. I had a strip mine that was literally nearly 20k blocks long. I used F3. It went from somewhere around -3k on the x axis to nearly -25k on the x axis. Still, though, this is cool. Can't believe no one had the 'largest piston door' I have a 2x12 piston door on one level.....UPLOAD IMGUR UPLOAD!!!!

Unnaturally good at Redstone. Give me a challenge and a time limit and about %95 of the time I'll beat it.
(dang, can't edit my other post. Gotta make a new one) Also, if there's a challenge for the World's Largest Castle, my avatar is one! Don't know the exact dimensions though. It's around 2k wide and 3k long. I measured it at some point but forgot it since I didn't save. It peaks at around 100 blocks from the ground.

YES! I got it! This door is 12 tall and 2 wide! It can go on forever as long as you have cobble, redstone, redstone repeaters, and of course, pistons! If someone breaks my record I'll make it so tall it goes out of my render distance!!!
Found another way to upload a picture but sometimes it doesn't work so I couldn't upload the picture of it open, hope that's ok. It's saying please provide a file less than 1 GB... it's 197 Kb....

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
