im am building a dwarven city in minecraft survival 1.7.4. im here to take any suggestions or ideas for my build. im not the best builder but im not bad. when i get more ideas and then add them i will add screenshots. this city im building is a ancient type of city still populated by people. try to think of lord of the rings but just im not trying to copy that.i will like to hear any neat building tricks you guys got.i want the area to be lit but dim lighting. thanks for any help people give.
i dont know it dosnt seem like it would fit the theme plus it would cost alot. it would fit the theme of more like a greek theme or some thing like that
If goldsto expensive you could use yellow wool only its not as good, if its dwemer style build then pistons will be necessary and lots of stone but you'll get that as your building anway. You could have little traps like the dwemer too.
I wouldn't use redstone lamps for lighting. Dwarven styled, I'd go with more stone (like you have done) and probably some wood (not planks) pillars in smaller walkways. Probably lava in certain allocated slots. Maybe some torches if you're fine with it. Torches, as in on walls, or on wooden fences to act as taller torches. Iron railings definitely. Not completely certain about the netherbrick. I'd also have some anvils. Yes. Anvils as decorations. You know how some temples in China have lions outside? Yep. Anvils to replace them. Perhaps some railway tracks. Not for their function, but as decorations, to lead off somewhere in the distance into the walls or something (hinthint possible secret rooms!).

Don't argue with idiots. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Always include a back door. You could always dig too deep and stir up something nasty. Have it accessible only by a bridge over a very deep chasm. Man the bridge with a nitwit villager to give him something to do, like telling people whether they can pass or not.
I may not be perfect, But without imperfection; life couldn't exist.
i would add soul sand, obsidian and iron bars. It really gives a sort of underground feel. Claustrophobic, daunting, yet grand

In Minecraft, you stick your head in the dirt to find problems.
