I can't commit to a Minecraft survival world. I've been wanting to play survival for a long time but once I create a world, I only commit to it for a few days until I decide to delete it and start again. I'd really like to just have one main world that I can commit to as constantly creating new worlds and then deleting them is a real frustration and a waste of time. Does anyone have any advice on how I can solve this problem?
If you were having fun while each world lasted, it wasn’t a waste of time.
If you are determined to stick with one world for a longer period of time, it is a good idea to set yourself a goal and work towards it. Only you know what you enjoy doing, so it is hard to make a specific recommendation.

How about, stop deleting your world and just keep playing.
Since you didn't explain why you delete your worlds, it's not really possible to offer any sound advice. We'd need to know what the problem is to help you find a solution. So what is the reason you can't keep playing the same world? What makes you want to delete it and start over?
Alright, I've written to a few of these threads - pretty recently, even. I didn't Delete most of my old Worlds, though (not counting World Generation, Test ones maybe but even then.. )!
Definitely try SMP vis-a-vis SSP, as suggested above too. Sometimes the key isn't how you do - or don't - approach something, it's who you do it with ( /without).
I played a few "themed" (like wrote in Book-and-Quills) things, but they didn't happen to last. Did MultiPlayer both with friends and strangers.
One of the things that helped me stick with a single World, was - finding my favorite parameters for - different ones. Again, I went through about 50, with significant effort in each (I've probably looked at like 500'ish'ish).
Also, if you enjoy other games, go for it. /Them, realizing sometimes you're inspired - more - by things Almost the same as something, before returning-back to it (possibly for the closest compare /furthest contrast) ; this goes for other activities, too: you never know what you don't know, but sometimes you can accept it better.
You are probably taking things too seriously. Relax and remember that the only point of Minecraft is to have fun with your creativity. Do not force yourself to do anything. Just do whatever pops into your mind that seems like fun.

it becomes a mysterious, awesome, incredibly magnificent world in itself"-Henry Miller
Yeah dude, I would suggest either of these things. You have to relax, set some goals, and stick with what you got. Heck, I'm still working on these things, but if you just relax you'll have fun playing even if it's some sort of fear like with me. Just have fun.

Maybe try doing survival on a server. You cannot delete it.

I'd suggest playing on a community server or realm. They're loads of fun and make the game a lot more interesting!
If you need someone to talk to play with I'll play with you

Set some long term goals. Some ideas:

What makes you go: "I don't feel like playing in this world any longer"?
