Minecraft has been one of my favorite games of all time since 2012. I have spent countless hundreds of hours playing this game. I have hailed this game as one of the very few completely original in-depth games of the last 12 years.
But these Illager and Vindicators are changing that. I have never before complained about any feature of game until now. I have loved every aspect of it.
WE DID NOT NEED day-spawning hostile mobs that do 10-13 damage on normal and often spawn in clusters!! They're making my current world nigh-unplayable. I have a closed-off farm. About 15 of these things have spawned inside of it, and due to it being closed off, they will not despawn. I have killed about 6 of them, but the rest are all in a bad spot. I can't even approach them. There's not much I can do with just leather armor and a Diamond Sword against a cluster of 9 mobs that hit like mack trucks!!
WHAT VALUE do these things add to the game?! What made these developers think "We should add mobs that spawn in clusters during the day that hit harder than Endermen! Yeah, that should add some FUN!"?!
I can't even use my farm now. My only option right now is to tear my whole build down, pack up everything, and restart as far away from any village as possible. But it's not even worth that. I'm not doing that. I'm just done playing this game.
That's nice to know. What the hell were they thinking though?
To make things tougher? My son and I play survival on a java Realms server. I like building, so walling in villages and our bases is fun for me. Even on hard mode, Jacob has no problem lasting the night vs skeletons, zombies, creepers and witches without a wall. I like the walls. In the day, there is only creepers and he finds that too easy.
Problem is, pillager patrols are spawning inside secure areas, which is why I can't wait for 1.14.3 to hit Realms. A patrol spawned inside my tower while I was putting up the palisade on the other side of the village so I could end martial law. I opened the steel door to the Broken Tower and was immediately attacked and killed. Since my bed was one floor below with an open stair I died over and over and over until the patrol was dead. Then a raid started! Luckily, we had enforced martial law, blocking the doors with cobble, so the villagers were safe. Took forever to kill the raids, but at least I had a large store of arrows for our skeleton farm at our main base.
From what Jacob says, pillager patrols can still spawn in daylight in 14.3, but won't in areas that are lit vs mobs. So your farm will be safe and they won't spawn in the Broken Tower again.
Work towards a power, punch bow. I recently got one. That really helps vs pillagers. Walk/run backwards firing as they charge. Always carry a bucket of milk to negate the bad omen when you kill the raid captain. If you are right by a village, lure the raid captain away and then kill him. Use the milk right away if you don't want a raid to attack the village. Then proudly display your prize banner on your base as a warning to all other pillagers.
Yeah, once you get a high-enchanted Power bow, Pillager Patrols are a lot easier to deal with. The crossbow-wielding ones only shoot at you if they come within 16 blocks of you, and it's not hard to be accurate with a bow from beyond that range and safely pick them off from a distance. Same goes for witches, and the Vindicators and Ravagers are melee-only, so they're even easier to kill from a distance with a bow. Flame bows help with the Ravagers, since they take several hits to kill even with a Power V bow, and the fire damage in between shots helps with that.
I have indeed taken to carrying a couple milk buckets in my enderchest at all times, so I can grab that before dealing with a Pillager Patrol to quickly clear the Bad Omen effect before it can trigger a Raid.
