one thing.you said that you would have to mine without torches but you can get torches.you can cook wood to get charcoal and then make torches with them.
1st village has 8 apples and an iron chestplate, 2nd village (partially submerged) has 4 iron, 4 saplings, 7 bread, iron boots, iron pick and 7 obsidian, 3rd village has 6 apples 2 bread

Can you use crafting table that you find in NPCs libary?
No, I said to beat the game without "using" crafting tables. In fact, you can even make a crafting table if you want, but that would not be very useful.
You said rotten flesh and apples would be your only source of food? Wrong! Cows and pigs have beef and bacon. And it doesn't require any crafting.

I said they're your only reliable source of food. I already mentioned cows and pigs as being reliable if you can find and protect an npc village wheat farm.
I have started my own challenge. Here are the results of my first day:
spawing with chickens (Are they evil?)
socializing with a testificate
my items (the chest is from the blacksmith)
My wheat farm (it's behind the door, protected by that rectangle of dirt)
zombie angry at a testificate (too bad for the zombie that this is easy mode)
It's only been one day and night, and I'm already at the risk of dying.
I looked through the window to check on the zombie again, and saw even more zombies. I found this funny, until I saw what was at the bottom of my window:
Then, when daylight came, the zombies gave up on that house, and decided to come to mine!
After they died from fire, I saw a much nastier surprise waiting for me:
I looked back at the window to see if it was the same creeper, but that one was still there. So, there is a creeper in front of my window and in front of the door. I have no idea how I'll make it out of there alive.
it can be done but only with a whole lot of villages
What could you do:
get obsidian from villages (i have found 7 obsidian in a village)
get flint from destroying gravel
get steel for destroying a iron golem or from villagers
go into nether
thats all unless you can kill an enderman
get eyes of ender
find a portal
NO!
