I hope someone can help me... ik have found 2 treasuremaps at shipwrecks in my world (survival mode) (peacefull). But i can't find the chests at the locations, i have dug out almost the entire islands where the X is located but still i have found no chest/treasure.
Does anyone know how this is possible?
Maybe due to playing on the difficulty "peacefull"???
Unless the chunks where the treasure is supposed to be were generated before 1.13 they should be there.
It can be hard to tell exactly where to dig and the treasure can sometimes be rather deep, though, at least almost always, under sand or gravel (I _think_ there was ONE, out of an awful lot, where I had to mine through stone. )
This thread has useful tips on how to find the exact location.
My world is created before the update 1.13 so the chunks where the treasure is supposed to be where also created before the update. But they have put in the shipwrecks so then they should have placed the chests also right? And when i go on my son's ps4 in his world (also created before the update) i find the treasure chest's with no problem!
That link is very helpfull but at the 2 locations i have almost dug out half the island and still no chest.
Tonight i am going to dig some more at the 2 locations to try and find the chests one last time.
I would rather not make a new world as i have build a massive castle with a big tower and i have lots of good stuff in this world you know.
Would it work maybe if i delete minecraft from my ps4 console (without the savegames) and then redownload and install it???
But they have put in the shipwrecks so then they should have placed the chests also right?
Worlds are generated chunk by chunk as the player explores the world. Updates, thankfully, do not recreate areas of the world. Imagine if someone had constructed a building there. That person would be understandably very upset if Mojang erased that location just to put a treasure chest in its place!
One could argue that the maps should somehow look for undiscovered areas, but that's a whole different conversation.
And when i go on my son's ps4 in his world (also created before the update) i find the treasure chest's with no problem!
Like I say, worlds are not created whole cloth when they are started, bur rather chunk by chunk as the player moves. The chunk that contained the chest you found was undiscovered before the 1.13 update.
The treasure maps and chests are nice addition, but it sounds like they're insignificant compared to your accomplishments in the world. Mojang will continue to update the game. That's something players who want to keep their old world have been dealing with for ten years now. My world was created in 2014 and I have to travel very, very far (20,000+ blocks) to discover new additions like woodland mansions.

You could use MCA Selector to delete regions or individual chunks so that they will be regenerated in the newer version. Assuming you haven't built anything in that area, just delete the chunk the treasure is supposed to be located in and it should be there when you reload the world.
