Today while I was mining diamonds in a cavern I found lava and unfortunately I fell into the lava pool and started to burn. I also died by the lava and dropped and lost MANY items including my enchanted diamond sword, enchanted bow (also the highest enchantable bow), my armor, about 32 diamonds and many iron. The thing that should NOT occur occured. Here is a video when I being killed by the lava:

I Like Minecraft! and I hate being killed by mobs or by the Minecraft environment.
Well don't step down into lava would be the basic rule!
If you find yourself standing in lava, with your head free, then placing water almost anywhere (displacing the current block of lava for example, or having the water flow onto your lava) would do.
Stepping out of the lava would be a good first step.
But to really answer the question, If you're digging around lava, do it while standing in water, and do it one layer at a time. Seems like you were taking the right approach (digging around the diamonds) but you didn't have water at your feet and you didn't clear one layer at a time.
Might as well finish all the digging before getting the diamonds too. One thing at a time.
I added a \TempStorage folder to my MC directory. Before I play I drag the current copy from my desktop to that directory, then copy the current MC world I'm going to play to my desktop.
It won't keep me from dying but I can restore my game to something just before I died.

I can try standing in water while I is mining around lava to avoid more deaths by lava, the only cons of using that method is that I can't use my shield in case of a creeper coming from the back and ssSSSssSSSsSing and exploding on me. Should I have used water while I fell into the lava pool? In the video I tried to run over the lava block but it did not work and I fell into the lava and died ☠. I also read the wiki and it said:
From the official Minecraft Wiki, the "things not to do" page
Sometimes diamond ore may be the only block between the player and death. The player should mine away all blocks around diamond ore found while mining. Care should be taken to completely remove or replace any lava around the diamond ore if any is come upon to ensure that the player will not be in danger while attempting to extract the diamonds. The same principle can be applied to any rare resource the player would not want to risk losing. More common materials such as dirt, gravel, and stone should be gathered above ground, where it is safe, and lava should be collected from the Nether or from surface lava pools, as it is easier to use a bucket on source blocks in these places. The player should also remember to relight up areas after block light from any removed lava is gone.
and I did the thing that the wiki said - diamond ore blocks are often placed near lava and easily causes death.

Well it would go like this:
1 - Place a block of water at the same level you want to dig away.
2 - Do all your digging at that level, starting at the side of the water block. Any exposed lava blocks will be frozen into obsidian.
(Why couldn't you use your shield while standing in the water? Is that a thing?)
3 - When you have removed all the blocks at that level you want to dig away, dig a hole and place your water one level further down.
Have a pail of water on your hotbar and your first thought when fallen in lava should to be place that water bucket ... next to you, at your feet, wherever - since water flows, almost anywhere is good. I would choose to plop it against the wall I am facing, probably. The water will also prevent you from burning to death with the after effects of lava.

You can easily avoid this by thoroughly lighting up the area - from looking at the the video it appears that you hardly use torches, just relying on the fact that there is no such thing as complete darkness in the game (IMO, a major flaw that should be seen as a bug), you should also remove water/lava springs so it is easier to get around:
Sure, this might take some time but it ensures that you can clearly see (including seeing ores that you might otherwise miss) and get rid of any mobs (I can mine over a thousand ore per hour, though only a few diamond ore - I consider caving to be impractical for finding diamonds as branch-mining is 10 times faster and safer).
As mentioned, put the water down (once), switch back to a shield&pick, mine the ore free. (DepthStrider3 is very useful for this as it removes the speed penalty for moving in water, but is not strictly necessary. It also makes fighting mobs in water easier.)
Don't get distracted: when you punched through into the ravine[?] you spent some time fighting, lighting, and (most oddly) blocking in the falliing water column that could have been used to flow toward your work site (the diamond ore).
Simply popping a block into the wall and marking the point with a couple of torches would have avoided this…
If in water, one can safely mine the block one is standing one; even if the block below is lava, the water will turn it to obsidian before one can fall into it.
Water can also be placed above the ore which will allow it to flow down the sides and under the ore body as one frees it.

WARNING: I have an extemely "grindy" playstyle; YMMV — if this doesn't seem fun to you, mine what you can from it & bin the rest.
To me it looks like your movements are overconfident. Despite knowingly digging above a lava lake, you are constantly darting back and forth. And indeed, you dug a hole, exposed lava and quickly advanced a step forward right into it, presumably expecting it to be safe. Otherwise you appear to be doing the right things. Slow down a bit, those diamonds can wait.
What should I do to avoid being killed by lava again? The death think I was very hard to avoid.
You made a mistake, then panicked. Not much you can do to avoid that. I did something similar recently, but was calm enough to hot key my water bucket and deploy it above my head, preventing my death.
You just need to force yourself to be more deliberate in this kind of situation. You knew there was lava, you should have been doing this very carefully. As others said, mining in water would have prevented it. I generally only do that when I am mining obsidian since it almost always involves lava, but frankly it is more about making sure the obsidian isn't destroyed than my safety.

I tried to run over the lava block but it did not work and I fell into the lava
You tried to run over the lava with a block in your way. There was a block at head height over the space you tried to jump into (the block your torch was on). You hit that block and fell into the lava. You need to be more careful.
In addition to what others have suggested, add a Fire Protection enchant to at least one piece of your armor.
Screenshot from your video was grabbed as you attempted to run over the lava, right before you smashed your face into the block and fell (block outlined in red).

I should remove that stone block that caused that I fell into the lava and burned up and lost my items. I tried to run over the lava but my head bonked into the block and then fell into the lava and then "Pzz Pzz Pzz Pzz" sounds when I took damage by the lava sounded. I will be more cautionus to remove the block or place water there instead to avoid this type of death. Very sadly that I lost all my items. Because of the death I choosed to disable autosave for that world in case of death by lava so I can exit and then restart from before that death. Next time if I falling into lava is to use a water bucket directly after I falling into the lava pit to avoid death. My armor (full iron) was not enchanted and also low on durability.

Next time near diamonds I can try to use that important water bucket to turn lava to obsidian. to avoid burning up while I mining the rare diamonds. I lost over 30 diamonds by the lava. If I had autosave disabled I could have a chance to start just before the death and turn the lava blocks to obsidian.
Leave your bucket of water down as you mine all around the diamond vein. You pick it up each time; don't do that.
EDIT: Can't believe I forgot the most #1 most important tip: always, always, always keep a fire resistance potion on your hotbar.
And I add: if you haven't already gone into the Nether, from 1.14 you can craft an Allium suspicious stew to get yourself 3-seconds fire resistance, which is better than nothing: https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Suspicious_Stew
I don't know if you can eat it if you're not hungry (I'll try this as soon as I can).
I keep a bucket of water in slot one just for this purpose. Even though I don't use it that often, seconds count when you're burning away and you don't have any fire protection gear.
They tell you not to dig straight down, but with feather falling 4 and a bucket of water it is pretty safe. If you have depth strider III as well as aqua affinity and respiration III I would suggest digging one block down, filling it with water, then digging straight down (while holding shift to keep you moving downward). Once you fill up and want to come to the surface you just swim up instead of having to build a pillar of blocks.
This is a great method for finding deep caves without putting yourself through undue risk.
Re: lighting issues. Turn up the lighting in settings. I rarely use lighting 'cause I turned up the lighting by 60 per cent or so. All darkness is avoided when I play this way!
