Haha, I know. However, I did come to your thread recently and saw that a lot more people have been posting! You just have to trust that people will eventually discover and love your maps.
Yes, its quite slow at first - if you look at Three-Two- You know what, this could be put in a PM.
On-topic: Building with mossy cobblestone, cobblestone, stone bricks, and mossy stone bricks with nether fence usually looks good. The nether fences can make good windows for lava lighting; you get a sort of "temple" look.
Build your base right here on a non-white list server with anti-grief... check out!

Nice work Isaac! I have an idea you could add to this list. Although it's more of a novelty, you could add a kitchen, with chests full of food and furnaces around the room. You could even add a table and chairs.
If you dont mind, im gonna use that banner in my signature!

No, just kidding. I'm not that desperate for people to see this thing. I just wanted to write this to say to anyone following this topic, I will soon be writing my second guide about playing Minecraft. I don't know when it will be up, but I will post a link to it here and also on my About Me page, so look for that soon.
No, just kidding. If this thread is going to die, I will let it. But it seems it has been genuinely helpful to some people, so I don't want it to die if people are still finding it useful.
To be honest, this guide is stupid.
You don't need 5 food source farms. A wheat one will be good and maybe a melon one for just sprinting and nothing important stuff.
Also, A lot of the "cons" to building locations is really not that hard to overcome.
Like a skybase you make a pool in the ground below and you just drop down. To get back up uhm I don't know maybe a ladder or a minecart?
Building your base and what should you have in it all depends on what type of playing you are doing.
Like if your in a pvp server its not good to build above ground usually or make airships or bases and have them so vast.
But if your on a friendly smp server why build underground at all?
Maybe for the space or when tere are good-lookingcaves.
Got a very good looking one(cave) and began to build and extend it.
And you don't need so much resources (especially stone)
BTW Why dont make an above ground one with an extensive basement. The materials from the basement give you enough resource for building out more outside.

Yup, NO.
You missed the entire point of the guide. It's not to make the most practical base ever. It's to make a base with tons of bells and whistles that you don't need, but are cool so you put there anyway.
And why are you talking about SMP when this is clearly in the Minecraft Singleplayer Forum? Learn to read before calling me stupid.
Sorry, I haven't had much time to start on the latest guide lately! I've been busy IRL, and I've been playing CTM maps and SMP... but it will come someday.
Someday.
In case anyone is curious, my Minecraft Guide #2 is going to be about caving. You're gonna love it. It'll be even more descriptive than this one.
Maybe someone's already said this but maybe not
