Hey folks, so my latest mission in minecraft is to just go around in my existing world and explore far distances in the hopes of finding some of the new biomes (or my first mushroom biome). (and yes, I know I could use amidst, but I just want to explore and find them).
Anyway, so I'm pretty far from my house, in a boat and just heading east over the ocean... I'm looking around and down at the sights as I go... I notice something underwater that is colored like the squids, but is too big and not moving... So I had to jump out of my boat to explore...
As I get closer I see this:
I still couldn't tell what it was....
Then I swam through it and my air bubbles refilled. I had to go back through several times to verify, it's a couple of big air bubbles under the ocean...
Weird that they actually generated randomly with the world. Then again, you always find things out of place in minecraft. Wish I could find those when I dig straight up from a cave to find that there was water. Or even worse, (water AND sand).
Yeah, found a few of these "air pockets" in my old world, and in my new one just recently. Interestingly, they all seem to be the same size as well, something like 3 long, 2 wide and 3 high ...
Looks like an awesome place to build an underwater city, or just a fortress. You gotta be careful, though, as I am sure those behave the same way as water anomalies on land do. You know the ones, edges of lakes that don't flow into caverns and such. But if you disturb the ground underneath, then it will just flow everywhere. I haven't explored the seas in my current world, but I think I will keep my eyes open for them. I like to watch out for exposed undersea caves, anyway. Thanks for sharing!

I didn't do a block count, but that size sounds about right for what I saw.
Nice generation bug. Exploit it and make an underwater outpost.
I thought about it, but I'm on an exploration mission, I thought about going back later until I found this awesome mountain.
And the view down
And one with debug screen up, I'm on top of the highest tree on the mountain with a y of 213. And this is NOT an amplified world... It was originally generated in 1.64 but now I'm in 1.74, this chunk is new in 1.74....
Last time I saw air bubbles like that, an abandoned mineshaft was directly underneath. Might have been a coincidence. The bubbles lined up perfectly with the support beams though.

I thought it was interesting.
Mintutor now works in 1.13!
MrKite & Mc_Etlam ... I salute you!

Oh that is air pocket,it is caused by terrain generation.Nice find.
Nothing to see here~

Figured it was worth mentioning.
Weird, but could be really useful if well exploited.
