"Why the hell would anyone play this?" When I saw a video. Fast forward three months later, read a PC Gamer article on it, and then was thinking "I seriously need to try this." And after two minutes of playing, I was hooked.

when i tried out classic,"what's this block supposed to do? o_o"

I was introduced to Minecraft by youtube. Literally a RANDOM related video was on the sidebar at the very bottom of the page and I clicked on it... 30 seconds into the video I had already bought an account.
So, what was the first thing I said when I first saw Minecraft? Nothing... I was speechless.
Something along the lines of either 'Oh my god it's like lego but a game!' or '....I want it, but that will not work on this stupid crap laptop ;_;' But that was when I was starting to get into it.
My friend once mentioned it, and I saw screenshots and thought 'what a load of balls, seriously why would you play that it looks so boring!' then one day I was browsing Youtube trying to find the answer to a puzzle in a game, I found a video titled Minecraft Lets Play by Seananners and accidently clicked it. I was about to press back when I noticed it was the same game my friend had been ranting on about, so I watched it and... erm... ^^' I'm here now aren't I?
Well it kinda works on Acer... tiny fog distance and fast graphics, plus you can't have anything up around it ._. except Skype, because you don't need the box up and it doesn't require clicking off.
Promptly after I started playing, I showed my friend who soon wanted it herself, then my other friend wanted it and bought it too, and he showed someone else, so did she... and well ^^' Out of my five uni friends, four play, one can't but will once her new laptop arrives and each of them have gotten at least 4 others playing too.
Oooh we're gonna have fun once we can set up a new server...
When I first heard about the game, I got a very spotty summary of what the game is actually about (something about gathering and using blocks of different varieties that represent different materials and using them, but you can easily lose it all if you die once. That's pretty much how I read it somewhere). Naturally, I didn't get it. Then, one fine day, while using StumbleUpon, I kept getting Minecraft related images, depictions of different things, and finally I got fed up and said "okay, fine. What the **** IS minecraft??"
About two days later I bought my beta license. That was about... oh gosh, not more than a week ago for sure... and I'm already hooked.
i first saw the game.... wait.... how long has it been? damn i cant check the time. its too far away, i would have to stop the game to see it. stretches neck. ahh forget it, i have lost track of time.

i love creepers
I was drunk. Then I did salvia.
And I ended up on my kitchen floor crying and hyperventilating because the cereal box monsters were going to get me
Was probably something along the lines of, "Wow, those are some crap-tastic graphics."
I kept randomly running into YouTube videos about it. Then a friend of mine bought the game, and soon after that my Brother did. At first I didn't want to get it cause of the awful looking graphics(compared to the new 3D games). After watching my Brother play for a little bit, I just had to get the game. Been hooked ever since, haha.
"WTF IS THIS ****?!?" *5 minutes later* Dad, lemme borrow your credit card for a sec

Yes, I'm old.
Maybe it will help if you whine about it some more.
way back in classic.
i got minecraft right at the start, so i get everything for free. alpha tester account FTW!
Jesus christ... you have THE LONGEST GIF avatar in the history of all avatars. I sat there for like 3 minutes watching it.
My first view of MC alpha was when I was watching paulsoaresjr's tutorials and I thought to myself right away: "I NEED this game"
Then a creeper spawned in a cave walked out and blew me up.
About two days later I bought my beta license. That was about... oh gosh, not more than a week ago for sure... and I'm already hooked.
Several weeks later, after buying it...
THIS GAME IS AWESOME.
