I'm interested to know what size houses everyone generaly makes in survival. And by that I mean do u build a massive house as soon as you have the recourses or do you generally stick to smaller sized houseI normally make an average sized house cause I don't normally find it necessary to build a very big house

I used to have a pet dragon here now it's dead. So I replaced it with a puddlejumper
On my hardcore survival game I'm at two floors, about 20x20 floor area.
Mostly functional but also has some luxury items (rooms correct, bath, fireplaces, chimney utility room, nice big windows and a tower).
I usually try and find a Village, then go under ground from there,..pretty much just come up for trading....sometimes when I want to change things up a little I'll go exploring on the surface,...but for the most part I'm below dirt or in the nether. So I don't really have a house per say,..just a bunch of under ground rooms for storage.
The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
It depends a little bit where you spawn, but most of the time I start with a tree hut with a 5 x 5 floorspace to survive the first night.
Then I start gathering resources like food and building materials to create a medium size stone house with one or two floors above ground and later I add some underground cellars for storage when needed.
Seriously though, for me building is pretty much the funnest part of the game, the rest of it is mostly just the stuff I need to do so as not to starve or run out of the materials I need to keep building.
I do make other worlds where I take breaks from the giant fortress type builds, there I keep it simple and just build large two story (above ground anyway) stone houses and then do some exploring and such. But once I have flattened and harvested the local temples for resources, fixed up the area villages, and started to accumulate chests full of wealth I always end up longing for my next big build or the one that is already in progress but on hiatus.
If you were asking that of me then the answer is no, it is Ovo's Rustic Redemption. The smooth stone in Doku looks way too much like the cobblestone, why waste coal (or your silk touch pick) to make smooth stone and end up with something that looks just like cobblestone? Ovo's stone looks like granite, much, much better. The overall "theme" is pretty much similar, very medieval looking with ornate touches and flourishes.
I almost always go underground for my first base, and then use its resources to construct things on the surface (for example, I'm working on a 90 diameter UFO that can "beam you up" with a TNT cannon right now).
In my world I've got 3 structures. At first I made a home in the side of a mountain which I then expanded to include the entire mountaintop. It's a stone fortress with high walls and severeal glass towers. It was okay, but it wasn't nearly the house I was looking for. Then I moved into a tower that about 7x11x 80 blocks which reached up to the clouds. It had about 7 floors including a floor for a nether portal and an entrance to a cave. It was good, but nowhere near what I wanted. Finally, I am now building a small castle that has a central throne room, two wings that each have two more wings. So far it has one tower that has a full power enchanting table, a tower made out of redstone blocks and lapis where my bed will eventually be and also a chest with my strongest weapons and armor, two pastures, and a small garden underground that is currently being used to farm pumpkins. The throne room is about 21x21 blocks with a red carpet with an orange trim up the centire. The throne itself is made from gold, lapis, and redstone and the seat of the throne has a lever that leads to a secret passage that leads to the redstone tower. When finished, there will be 5 towers in total, and each will fufill a different function and be linked by Ender Chests as well as being linked to a storage room. Not automated, but at least I can send stuff to different places at once via a single chest. The left wing will be used for animals, farming, and other things, while the right wing will be turned into a living space where I can pretend to entertain traveling dignitatries and perform other pretend social funtions. I will include a library with books that will explain various lore related to my world. Oh and maybe I plan to create a moat, and possibly make a village out front.
When I first start a world, I usually live underground and keep mining for hours (if it's a big cave) and when I feel I'm bored, I start collecting stuff required to build my house. My houses are usually not bigger than 22 x 40 and 2 floors. I also have a tendency to leave really large projects in the middle so stuff like castles and big towns are not my thing.
The smallest and cheapest house possible in survival that looks like you put somewhat of an effort to make a house on wood/cobble with a space of 2x2x3 inside, fitting a bed, workbench and furnace in it wont be hard. Fences as windows is cheap and easy as well.
