The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
Who needs an XBOX when you got a PS3?
First of all, Mojang has worked hard on this update. It looks a LOT more better than it used to. (Atleast I think that.)
Second of all, what is amplified about? Sure, I know it's a fun little map to play on but how'd they come up with that?
Mojang has announced that you are about to be able to change your username sometime in the future. You can change it to something stupid, or something more better than your username NOW. Some people HATE this idea for no reason. It's great for people who HATE their username, and want a better one. For example, you choose xXGamerMCXx. Now that is a CRAPPY username just about a LOT of people use. But, if they give you the chance to CHANGE your username, you could make it something like CowsEatMuffinsForBreakfast, or DIamondMoo. (I like cows. )
Anyway, this topic was made for you guys to DISCUSS the new update. No hate.
Amplified means biggest world generation (it even reaches maximum height). This can be memory-intensive for old PCs.
And finally, if they added username change, I'll change my name to FutureNyanCat! Epic!
Mojang has worked so hard on this update...roofed forests, mesas, stained glass (finally, I built a house with yellow glass!), improvements to servers, and more!
Also, amplified is way more fun than standard world generation. It makes it more challenging and the terrain looks more genuine (except for floating islands ) You get mountains is every biome that go up to y=256. I've wanted this update forever and it came true.
When I get the opportunity to change my name, I'll change it to: 'DerpyDento'.

However, it's too CPU-intensive for my old PC. But Amplified is a great job for Mojang! (and as well as biomes!).
I'm having the love for mesas, too! I built my house there.
The thing I love best about the update is the new draw distance slider. My laptop is really old (Old T60) so I had to play on Tiny draw distance in 1.6.4. This meant I couldn't see the sun in the sky, and had to rely on the general light level to tell the time. VERY hard to do, and as you know, night falls quickly in Minecraft. Got caught outside unprepared more times than I'd like to admit. In the new update, the draw distance ALWAYS includes the skybox, even if you set it to the smallest chunk distance.
Additionally, the performance is MUCH improved in 1.7.2. on Tiny draw distance i could only see about 4 chunks away. Now I get equal performance at 8 chunks, so my view distance has Doubled in one update. I'm loving it!
