Water spirit challenge
the original idea came from here.
Ahh yes, the great water spirits what a powerful nation they were nobody really knows where they went or why but now they are coming back. Coming with their full power to reshape the land and conquer the oceans. With their advanced aqua tools, aqua armor, and brilliant minds they will once again become the most powerful nation ever known.
The leaders of the lost water nation have sent you to conquer and explore new lands. Using a set of aqua tools and armor you must expand the reach of the waters by way of new rivers and build an underwater empire for future water spirit settlers to live in.
Rules:
1.You are a water spirit and thus a part of the water and must NEVER leave the water
2.Water spirits are a proud people and refuse to store chests in a dirt house(if the house is made of dirt no chest can be put in it)
3.Water spirits love the water so much that if they can they want to see it from inside their home(make houses out of glass when possible)
4.You are a water spirit and thus a warrior at heart. strive to get a bow
5.Water spirits are a united nation and thus must connect all the waters they conquer
6.Water spirits must stay connected to their home waters (the sea nearest where you spawned)
7.Water spirits like any other spirit must protect their home. Any monsters that touch the waters must be killed.
8.Slimes are impure and if they touch the water it is poisoned and the connection to the poisoned water must be broken and any water from it abondoned.(includes bucket)
Tips and Tricks:
1.When fighting lure your enemy into deeper water then strike it from below
2.when making a home empty all the water except what is on the floor out of the house
3.to travel long land distances use 2 water source blocks and alternate them but remeber you can't be disconnected from the home water so you can't go past a hill or past a flat area larger than 16.
4.For hunting animals that prefer to stay on land use your bucket of water and pour it behind them to push them out to sea.
Optional start
As a young spirit in the homeland of all spirits you must gather what you will need to become one of the many types of spirits. For the great water spirits you must craft yourself a water staff and aqua armor. Once you have done this you can become a water spirit. The final step of becoming a water spirit is to relinquish all items, except those of the water spirits, to the great depths.
Optional start rules
1.gather a set of tools and armor of at least iron quality, and a bucket.
2.once done throw away everything except 1 set of tools, armor, and bucket
3.go into the water to begin your life as a water spirit
I like the idea (and still accept), just like Tree Spirit Challenge... But if you're going to "copy" an idea or do your own version the tree spirit challenge... At least make it look better. You have some spelling/grammatical mistakes and elaborate more. It's a little confusing...

If you would point out the mistakes in a pm I will promptly corrcet them.

The greatest creations are those that you make because you want to not because you have to.
I think there should be a "heart-log" for the water spirits! something like:
"you start off in a pool or little lake, and that lake is Pure. Do not let any monsters enter this lake, so guard it with your life. allowing a monster in would make it in-pure, and your spirit will die. This is your Heart-Pool and life."
Also, starting with the diamond objects would be hard and almost too easy to progress... considering i started a new world for my water spirit game (just like i did for my tree spirit game). Maybe say something in the story-line like:
"A water spirit does not begin life as a water spirit. You must first create a bucket, this bucket is your -insert cool name here-. This bucket will help you begin your life as a water spirit. After that, the pre-spirit must abandon (or burn) all previous acquired items(minus the bucket) as an offering to the water spirits. After doing so, the pre-water spirit will be sent on its long, last land-touching, journey to find the perfect Heart-Pool, where you will be forever bound to water."

EDIT: The pure pool is actually REALLY hard....
Thanks for the ideas I made a few edits based on them including the whole optional section.

You know I have a world titles water spirit thinking maybe I could use the tree spirit thing as inspiration to try something interesting. Needless to say, Water current is so annoying to deal with all the time i gave up on the idea. Thats why this will probable not catch on. Water currents are not fun to swim in.
Ideas:
-The closest body of water is your starting Waters
-Build a small monument/fountain to the Ocean as your starting point at the edge of the starting Waters.
-You can leave the water and walk along the embankments as long as your are no more than 1 block away.
-Starting with a bucket is recommended, but for hardcore, no bucket for you, you'll have to mine ore and make it yourself :smile.gif:
-You lose if your monument is destroyed, or if using a fountain, any monsters befoul it
Difficulty modifiers:
Easiest: Start with bucket, tools. Lose if monument is destroyed
Mid: Start with bucket. Lose if monument is destroyed
Hard: Start naked. Lose if monument is destroyed
Hardcore: Start naked. Lose if fountain is befouled
Hardcore+:Start naked. Lose if starting Waters are befouled
Edit: For the Tree Spirit Challenge, I like building monuments on mountains and in impressive places, for this challenge, building a Water Fountain Monument on the nearest mountain/hill would be your first achievement to work towards (after survival of course)

some interesting ideas you have here although walking on the waters edge is not really in the spirit of the challenge and makes it so much easier. For me at least the challenge is part of the fun.

Staying in the water, just like the Tree Spirit Challenge staying on the tree roots, gives much more of a challenge.
If the water currents weren't as bad I wouldn't argue, but a Water Spirit struggling to move in the water doesn't sit right with me. But I'll have to do the challenge both ways to say for sure which I like better.
At the moment these Spirit Challenges have Core Rules and Difficulty Modifiers, for more challenge keep in the water, less challenge embankments are ok :smile.gif: .
Would love to see someone making a nice illustrated PDF with all the spirit rules and modifiers listed....
Seriously this is kind rippy don't you think? As one of the guys who kept the tree spirit thing going, I think you should have at least talked to the OP first....
It is the natural next step, and we don't want to clutter the other thread with this offshoot idea.

The op of the tree spirit challenge idea also came from another post. Also I have posted on the tree spirit challenge too because I like it and I am doing it. As durian said different elemental challenges shouldn't clutter up the tree spirit challenge page.

I like the concept, but here's how I'll tweak it a bit:
Starter items:
-1 diamond helmet enchanted with Aqua Affinity I, Respiration III, Unbreaking III (If your helmet is lost or broken, you're allowed to give yourself another one)
-1 sapling
-2 buckets
Rules:
-You are allowed to leave the water, BUT only for up to one minecraft day, and while you are out of the water, you must drink 1 bottle of water every time take at least 1 heart of damage, and every time you lose 1 hunger point (1 hunger point = 1/2 shank icon). You can also only make these trips every two minecraft days. If you run out of water, you must stop what you are doing and make your way to the nearest body of water you can find immediately. You must from there swim back to your home water, or, if you are unable to, refill your water bottles and walk back following the same rules. You do not need to drink water during these trips if it is raining and you are on the surface, but all other rules still apply.
-Being in the water is defined as either touching a water source block, touching a flowing water block, being inside an underwater building. You can also go on the shoreline, provided you stay within 4 blocks of the water. Anything beyond that counts as one of the previously mentioned trips.
-Slime infected waters can be "reclaimed" by filling in all the water blocks from that area with other blocks, then breaking the blocks and replacing them with clean water.
-You cannot enter the desert. You will dry up and die!
-You cannot enter swamps. They are infected by slimes, and their water and land is contaminated.
-You have to drink a water bottle every thirty seconds in The Nether. Very impractical, but so is entering The Nether as a water spirit.
-In a pinch, water bottles can be substituted for potions.

"The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time."
Ok. So, now that this is kind of well known, here are my small ideas.
1. You don't start as a real Water Spirit. You must make a water tower, so that you get your powers.
2. You must find a good pond, and that will be your heart pond.
3. You live in the water, but alas, being a young one, you cannot breath underwater yet. You have to make all your houses airtight so you can breath.
4. You cannot enter the desert, even if there is a pool of water. The water there is too hot and you will die from the heat of the water.
5. You can't enter the swamp! There's too much slime, so you will get deathly sick from the water.

Now we just need a lava/fire spirit challenge!
Or an air spirit challenge!
You must never touch the earth.
