very nice (that's a very nice thread you have there, it would be a shame if something were to happen to it...)!
I havent read the thread in full for a few weeks so i forgot if there was a section about fighting with fire (flint and steel, lighting enemies and their structures on fire). If not, then could you add it?
@Above yes there is, I'm working on offence/defence now since I don't have the pictures used in the last thread (And I have a download limit on my Internet plan) the section will be all new. I'm adding a few buildings to the Defence section and how to assault the Murder Bridge to the offence section.
I ran across the original thread a couple weeks ago and was sad to learn that the community had dissovled. Do you have any plans of restarting it at all (the other parts beside the thread)?
This time it's chapter 3 of The Story. Chapter 4 will touch on diplomacy and will either be up later tonight or early tomorrow.
@Above
The only official part of this whole "community" is this thread.
The server's, child threads, etc. are all unofficial and run by the people who the previous thread inspired. I have no ties to anything other then this thread.

Okay, maybe this will start the spark it once did. Thanks for keeping the thread up to date, I enjoy reading things like this.
However, five men in a cave could hold back an army if the entrance was narrow enough. The narrow entrance would thin out the ranks to something more manageable for the soldiers. (This again uses strategy)
I disagree, bottle necking will never be a effective tactic in Minecraft unless you bottleneck via the use of obsidian or bedrock. For example, 5 soldiers run into a cave and cover the entrance with blocks. The enemy opens up that wall and send in one person. He could be quickly killed. So, all the enemy has to do is make multiple entrances or even flank you by making a tunnel leading behind you. You would be slaughtered, your best option if you are outnumbered is to run away to allies. Not try to fortify a position.
two quick notes:
1. Edit the documentation and mapping section.
2. If you hold down shift, then your name can't be seen through walls, enemies have to have line of sight on you to see you sneaking past.
Yes, but the purpose of Bottlenecking is not to reduce the number of Combatants you face, it is to reduce the number of combatants you face at one time. Sending half of their troops to tunnel back to get you leaves the enemy with half the force to fight with at the moment.
You could easily rip through their first lines of defence, and hope to get away safely, if they started digging
@Consquence6
1. I'm sorry, what section are you talking about exactly?
2. That's a well known fact that can be found on the wiki. This thread is large, and there is a character limit per post, so I don't add in stuff like that.
Although I agree with the strongholds, I'd probably end up disabling NPC villages on me server (It's Possible in SSP so I hope it is in SMP)
Simply because having a nice City/Village should take more work then killing a few NPCs
Sprinting will make my above points about combat in caves even MORE effective. You can sprint past anyone digging in, and take out the thinned front lines.
We should put together ouselves a new server. The old Art of War server was probably the best PVP server I have played on, it was 100% vanilla (Ok some plugins to prevent spawn griefing/raiding while a clan is offlinewould be cool, but Ilike vanilla :biggrin.gif:)
and at times had 70 ,people online at 1 time.
im happy with the addition of the hunger bar, makes farmers like me (well, on SMP, not really SSP) glad to be of more importance. Currently, on my server, i think i have the largest farm. I make the most bread and mushroom stew of all! though, i dont have the eggs for cake.
But yes, the hunger bar would be a great addition, makes people more likely to bring food to a battle. You wont believe how many times i've died in the wilderness because i didnt bring food, and the same about how many people i've killed with stronger armor.
EDIT: Btw, i noticed a spelling mistake in the lesson part of the latest chapter, you wrote "me conquered" instead of "be conquered"
@weatherdog
Thanks for the spot, I'll fix that when I add new content!
I do try to be pretty good with spelling and things because I know how hard it is to read when the grammar/spelling is horrible. (I've run three servers, you don't know how many applications I stopped reading after the first sentence)
