My favorite version of mc was 1.7.3 it was amazing (thats when i got the game) i wish notch would let us redownload are favorite versions of mc. because i miss 1.7.3....
Definely old. Ive been playing since early beta, and i liked it more in 1.5 - 1.7
Hunger is kind of annoying, plus the servers i used to play on back in beta have gone to hell since the full release. While there were some neat additions, like creative, i still liked the older versions of minecraft more
I really like the old Minecraft. You can hear and enjoy the old BOOOOM sounds,Steve's "Oof!" sound and the door sounds. The old textures and the new physics. The thing where you can climb ladders when there is a gap,the thing where caves and ores are easier to find and the annoying hunger bar is hot there. I vote for old Minecraft..

And how can you even break your arms and legs and ankles when you are on fire!?
I don't understand why people like a game with few content, eye-burning textures(old cobble, gravel, cocoa beans) and sh*tty sounds. New one is better.

I like the new Minecraft better, however I wish that everything wasn't revealed in path notes. the old Minecraft was much more speculative and superstitious, I miss that.
I began playing in Alpha v1.1.2_01, and there are good and bad aspects to both. The only thing I really didn't like was the inclusion of Mooshroom Biomes, but then - they're ultra rare and I don't have to go look for them; so I don't. (I just think they're silly personally.) Despite the dark show glitch which they're working on, the lighting is much better than the patchy Alpha; but at the same time it made going in Alpha caves really fun and much more scary as when it got dark - it was really pitch dark. There was no brightness slider. There's more decorate blocks, wood/trees, dimensions - Nether//End, and redstone and pets, brewing and enchanting - if you're into that sort of thing and better mob AI and development. The bad - is the terrain, but you can still find some of the freaky 1.8 esq mountains in 1.6+ but they are a lot less common obviously.
The pluses to Alpha were the already mentioned dark caves, the terrain, the "of Steve" sounds", no Enderman stealing natural blocks, epic lava falls, no limit on natural mobs (Cow, sheep, pigs) spawning. Harder to survive with basic foods. The bad - clouds hitting and disappearing into mountains, the old height level. No leaf decay very early on..
These are all my own opinions of course. I don't consider myself a "fence sitter" as I like both and see the good and bad of both but still enjoy ythe game more than ever. I just consider myself objective.
I've been playing since alpha, but I don't think I'd enjoy playing an old Minecraft version. It wouldn't feel the same as when I played it so long ago, and it would lack a lot of the content I am now used to. So I prefer new Minecraft, of course!
Haha, the votes are pretty close... I haven't voted yet, but I think I will have to go with new minecraft.
Even though I love 1.7.3 and under for the terrain I guess I prefer the newer versions still since they have more things.
Which means more things to do!

You don't need MCNostalgia.. you can just find the jar file of your desired version and with it, replace minecraft.jar. Done!
