so iv'e built a farm using a design made by a champ called Gnembon...it seemed pretty good with good rates and everything, i cleared the monument out of all the water from its place,destroyed the guardian temple and built a farm,i did it perfectly with block to block placing as in the test world,lit up all the caves around the temple(didn't do all the slime spawning stopping with slabs thingy) yet wherever i stand there is hardly any guardians spawning,please help!
you need to be standing at least 64 blocks above the farm to have any spawns
Not true, especially if the OP lit up nearby caves (as stated in the post).
My guardian farm was built within spawn range of land, and I did no land, cave or ravine area prep at all, and I still get loads of spawns while standing right next to the lava blade the guardians drop through (15 blocks below the spawn area). My rates drop a bit at night when mobs spawn on nearby land, but because the guardian farm is lower I still get the bulk of the spawns.
Unless you know of some reason Gnembon's farm would behave differently, in which case please explain.

the design is: Guardian xp farm-sword
You do need to be at least 24 blocks from the spawn area for the maximum spawn rate (hostile mobs will not spawn within 24 blocks of a player). You also need to cover the spawn area, as water blocks exposed to sky have something like a 95% chance of spawn failure.
My farm covers whole 58x58 monument area (+ outer walls), so I have a large roof over mine.
Although technically you only need to cover the spawn area. My roof is slightly oversize, since it also covers the outer walls.
Standing in the sky about 30 blocks above my guardian farm, I yield bountiful quantities from the guardian spawns. A photo of your farm would be helpful for troubleshooting, but a few things I had to do included: covering spawning spaces (don't let the farm be exposed to the sky), standing above the farm, not below it (decrease frequency of spawning in caves), and ensuring your coordinates are correct (i.e., your farm's spawning spaces must be within the vertical boundaries of the monument - i.e. if the top generated at y:60, then guardians will spawn up to y:61).
Also, what version are you playing? Gnembon's farm requires alterations for 1.12+ due to changes in guardian pathfinding behavior. I believe he has a video on this. Have you amended the design to account for these changes? It could be that the guardians are constantly dying in the lava - not that they aren't spawning.

I had the same issue.
I tore my hair out, and the farm its self apart for weeks trying to figure out what the issue was.

I started trying to build a new one in a new area, and the owner of the realm switched maps on me again.
I had the same issue as well,
my render distnace was on 8 chunks and no spawns, i cranked it up to 12 and i had loads of spawns.
I don't know what is the thing with that but just put it to 12
There's a well known but where having a render distance of less than 10 chunks doesn't allow mobs to despawn before their chunks are unloaded.
Therefore they stay counted and fill up the mob cap.
Just testing.
