Ok this is the wierdest glitch that happened to me on realms. My real nether portal in the overworld is x=-2700 z=1600 and my portal in the nether is x=-350 z=200. When I started to exit the nether with my portal the first thing that happened is I crashed. Then when I came back on, I got teleported to x=-350 z=200 in the overworld and I got suffocated in stone. I had a pickaxe so I was free from that. The nether portal didn't spawn in. This is the first the that happened to me. I'm going to see if this happens to me in the future.
That used to be an "undocumented feature" (bug/exploit) you could use to get on top of the bedrock roof of the nether, but I thought that bug was fixed.
The bug was that your actual coordinates would be used, rather than the x*8 or x/8 coordinates, if the game crashed while passing trough a portal. So if you built a portal in the overworld above Y128 and crashed the game as you when through, you would end up above the nether ceiling.
