The VERY first time i found enough diamonds to make a pick, the first thing that i did was try to mine obsidian but this was like my 3rd day playing the game. So i had no idea that there would be lava RIGHT under the block i was mining. The very first diamond pick i ever made i lost it in like 5 minutes of its creation :sad.gif:
Went on a minning trip on diamond layer, came across a cave, realized it was a very big cave with lots of branch's at diamond level, so i stashed what i had and went back.
After spending almost 2 hours in the cave, and almost breaking a diamond pick getting all the loot, i noticed some diamond on the other side of a lava lake, noticing it was beside another cave. I decided to be smart and just cut my way threw the wall as to avoid the lava as much as possible knowing i had a lot of loot on me (18 :Diamond:, 6 stacks of :Coal:, almost 2 stacks of :Iron:, just over half a stack of :GoldBar:, almost 4 stacks of redstone, and just over a stack of lapis lazuli).
Well the story gets bad when i got to the other "cave" area i had seen, just as i broke threw a skeleton from no where shot me, the knock back from it pushed me into the lava lake, talk about some rage!
In this thread, we tell our stories that end with, well, falling in lava and losing everything.
Went to Nether. Playing on peaceful because I just want to gather some lightstone. Have over 100 LS dust collected, but decide to venture on. Might use my two buckets to grab some lava. See some lightstone off a ways. Scoot forward to build improvised bridge.
ooo! this thread! Hmmm. Oh I know.
Build Loot Tower 500 blocks away from house.
Build minecart track to and from loot tower.
Ride minecart track past surface lava.
Right-click to shoot my bow at a skele, end up getting out of minecart.
Get asploded by a creeper, knocking me into the surface lava carrying ALL my diamonds, gold redstone, etc.
LOSE EVERYTHING.

WHY SO MANY SHEEP?
Because your light is the placest house in the area, and it's grassed with cover.
One day, I was mining and found diamond. I was really excited and quickly crafted a diamond pick. 5 minutes later, I forgot that I had switched my sneak from "Shift" to "Ctrl". I fell in :Lava:.
As far as I can remember, I've never actually died at the hands of lava.
The only time I actually fell in lava, it wasn't my fault. My wasd keys have a tendency to "stick" so to speak, and when I was down by lava, "w" felt like sticking, and stick it did. I uncontrollably ran towards, and into, the lava, but luckily I always carry a bucket of water with me for this very reason. I hopped out and doused myself, and all was well, not that there was anything valuable in my pockets.
You people should really watch your mining operations more closely. Jeez.

What's it like this time of year in Logical Fallacy Land? I hear the weather is always nice because the weather is always nice.
I honestly dont know why people apparently like to overrated the deaths on this game.
The most mortal thing here is FALL DAMAGE. And maybe some skeletons too (Pretty much the only enemy who is able to damage me as of now), ESPECIALLY if they are about 3 skeletons vs you.
Lava and Creepers both are extremely overrated. Especially lava.
Showing my friend my massive obsidian lake underneath my huge singleplayer base, i dig down onto obsidian
accidentally and get stuck in lava. Respawning, i go back to my house to fill my inventory again, pause the game for some reason, then my POWER GOES OUT AND I LOSE MY FILE ... I didnt back up my save... cry myself to sleep that night, cant play minecraft for 3 weeks from trauma...
->Make a large cobblestone tower
->Fill it with lava and cover the lava with several layers of stone
->Later, mine downwards into it, having forgotten about thate arlier task
->
FALL IN LAVA. LOSE EVERYTHING.

"Madness and knowledge are twin sisters, and sometimes we have to think wild thoughs before we can truly understand."
When I first found obsidian. In my blissful noob-ignorance I started swinging at it with my iron pick. I was unaware that obsidian usually rests on top of lava, and after 50 seconds of swinging straight down, FELL IN LAVA. LOST EVERYTHING.
I also managed to fall into lava with 4 diamond picks once. Wasn't impressed.

The only reason I don't play Minecraft more then I already do is because of Java. Seriously, **** Java. C++ and Perl are much better choices ;D
