I'm not a fan of one of the new zombies mechanics. I'm fine with zombies spawning more zombies when getting hit, but I don't like that they can now see you from what seems to be a practically infinite distance. It makes starting up a world on the "Herobrine" seed a pain in the butt because I have to constantly watch my back for zombies in the dark of the mountains. What are your thoughts on the new zombie sight?

Higher education leads to higher living. Critical thinking leads to free living.
I think the increased sight mechanic is more challenging, yet it doesn't feel like an actual zombie AI anymore, doesn't feel... like... an actual Minecraft zombie. For example, you're standing over 30 blocks away, and the zombie is faced in another direction, then it instantly knows you are there and then it begins it's slow attempt to eat your brains
I really like it, actually. The games more tense and challenging now. And zombies seem to be way more of a threat now, they'll come in groups. I find it awesome. ^^
This is the kind of thing I've wanted for a while now!
Also it could be considered more practical, like the zombies can actually pick up your scent now. Which I think makes sense for them, being zombies and all that.
And the sight distance is 40 blocks, if you didn't know.
"Oh me goush! I hate minceraft right now! Tha neu zombies r 2 hard! They c u from infinitie diztance! So not cool bra."
Minecraft does need to be harder. And this is one way to do it. If you played on the 1.6 snapshots than you would have more time to like them. From the start I thought they were really cool. Then I saw how the come in packs. 5 - 8 can be at your door waiting to eat your brains. So cool. Zombies are (almost) a real threat now. And you should like it. Also the distance from where they can track you is 80 blocks away.
Any Zombie spawned can now see targets they prefer to attack at a much larger radius.
As a result, every village I've encountered has been little more than a ghost town within little more than a couple of days, all doors missing, homes empty etc.
Their aggro range needs to be toned down, I'm fine with the horde mechanics they have just now, but they're pretty much leaving me to renovate and repopulate entire villages from scratch if I ever want to trade.
I'm finding the new Zombie tracking mostly an annoyance right now.. But it was awesome watching a bunch of zombies walk 40+ blocks along a fence line, up into a forest, make their ways somehow to the treetops, along the top of 3-4 trees, then drop 4-5 blocks down onto the fence (taking some damage) and into the wheat farm... Fortunately the farm was all fenced off as well so they were trapped there.
After playing the new update for a few days, I don't mind the new zombies. It makes it more exciting fighting them when suddenly more spawn, although I don't really like how they spawn out of thin air. Maybe if fighting a zombie attracted others in the vicinity, that would be better. But I guess mobs spawn out of thin air anyway, so what does it matter?
As for villages, I think they should spawn more protected than they are now, as in with a village fence or some such, just for the sake of added verisimilitude. How do they survive until you show up and save them from peril? Not that it's difficult to protect a village once you find it, but in the meantime, what are they doing? At least now that villagers get turned into zombies there is recourse for saving the village even after a zombie attack. That's a huge plus, in my book, as before if a village got wiped out, you were s.o.l.
I find it neither terrible, nor fantastic. I believe it is called evolution. Like most games, Minecraft has and will continue to change significantly over time, sometimes for better, and sometimes for worse, but each time it does evolve. It opens doors to better changes for the good of Minecraft.
It's quite frankly better that Mojang is making the game harder then easier. I would rather that then it being catered to 8 year olds who can't handle anything remotely hard.

Personally,I like the idea except for the part where zombies spawn MORE zombies. I haven't tried it yet but it sounds like the zombies would just multiply.
After you read this, you'll notice that minecraft is more "realistic" now.
// Edit
The only thing concerning me is the protection of a village before I found it and before I had the possibility to change their village into a fortress.
Look, when you haven't seen a village, it hasn't spawned. That's how chunks work. The Minecraft world exists only where you see it. So if zombies are there to wreck a village, you'll be there to defend it, too.
I love it! I like the challenge. Before the update zombies got no respect. Everyone was complaining about how simplistic Zombie AI was. Now with the change everyones complaining that its to hard. Which one is it peeps!
