Lately I have been seeing many people griping about how minecraft isn't hard enough, and frankly I just don't understand it. That's why I would like to know from the players out there how you would add to a challenging minecraft survival experience, since everything the updates have provided up to this point just aren't cutting it for the most of you.
Example - Must settle in a house above 150y. So, then, you have to live in a floating island.
Challenge yourself to get every achievement in a certain amount of time. Maybe get some mods, and play a survival world with those. Have fun with it, and create a whole city!
It's minecraft - the possibilities are essentially endless.
When I need a challenge here's what I do: Hardcore Mode + Flatland Village + Herobrine + Slenderman + Mutant Creeper + Mutant Zombie = Sufficient Challenge

Unnaturally good at Redstone. Give me a challenge and a time limit and about %95 of the time I'll beat it.

If it were possible, I'd like to have the Mobs organize themselves a bit more.
It'd be awesome to see a group of Skeletal-Archers advancing on a house, then spread out to cover different angles of it (or something like that).
I've heard that Zombies horde up more now (and siege villagers), so that's pretty awesome. Just have to have the other baddies do similar things.

Well sure, but in this case, the examples are what I want to hear.
Don't be afraid to be creative about it either. Say you were able to control how the world was built: How would you limit certain resources? How would mobs behave differently, or what new mobs would you add overall?
I feel that minecraft isn't a game that requires a challenge, it's a sandbox game where you can do what you want and just build. I challenge myself to build things but if that gets boring, just build at night instead of during the day.
Well, you could always do the three obvious things:
Mod Minecraft, play adventure maps and set challenges for yourself. Personally, why I do get bored of Minecraft every once in a while (though I probably spend more time on the forum than playing on the actual game), it has never been because I though Minecraft was too easy of a game.
You want HARDCORE Minecraft eh? My suggestion is to go outside, find the nearest tree, and punch it till a block pops out and the tree floats. That is truely HARDCORE minecraft.
