Probably turning the end into a huge overworld island so far I have removed all the obsidian pillars, giving me over 2 double chests of obsidian. I have something like 7200 obsidian. Now I'm gathering dirt (currently at about 4000, I want to get two double chests (6912) before I start). I will post a screenshot as soon as I get back to my computer.
Thats epic and the first time I have heard or that.
I roleplay a lot. Right now I'm building an Orcish settlement in a swamp, with temples and shrines to the different gods, and workshops (i.e. blacksmith, fletchers, cook house etc.) where only specific things will take place. For example, there are no furnaces or crafting tables in my house, if I want to make a sword I have to go to the black smith to get one made.
Eventually I will have a kick-ass orcish settlement. On a single player world.
Creating a village to represent all of the crafting needs you need. Awesome! You could always open that world up as a server too.
This summer, I and my friends will be playing on a private survival server. Our goal is to build a massive, self-sustaining underwater colony. I think it will turn out nicely, as we have a good number of people with various skills.

Oh then check this forum out for ideas. I have made houses underwater, but colonies are too shenanigans for me
My biggest project is without doubt my Minecraft city, never will be finished I believe One of the many buildingprojects I got on my world, but the enviroment keeps inspiring me to add buildings to it.
Here's an album with a progress from small fishingtown to prospering medieval city:Andawerpum
Not afraid of knocking down old structures if they no longer fit, or stand in the way of expansion. Neat thing is that the natural walls (mountainridges) generated around the city make for some great layered layouts.
For people wondering, all buildings are internally decorated!
Two screenshots of the interior of the Andawerpum Castle:

Building a 5-multi-layered 22x16 farm containing wheat, pumpkins, melons, carrots, sugarcane, and cocoa beans. All out of stone, stone bricks, and a water-operated elevator reaching all the way to the top. And I'm still adding stuff to it.
I have built a farm that gets 60 stacks of wheat per harvest, supplied people's building projects, (like 200 stacks of sandstone and 100 stacks of wood) and made a city with 6 story hight buildings on a grid, all on one server.

woah woah woah 60 STACKS? jeeeze that must take more than an hour to harvest and replant XD

Geez :x
Do you use redstone to harvest the wheat or at least use a bucket of water to help with harvesting?
I would imagine a redstone harvest to be even more extensive to setup, but atleast we have hoppers now <3 there just needs to be a way to not spend an hour replanting that
My largest Vanilla project is a survival world I have been working on since last August. So it's 10 months old at this point, and I don't dedicate all my MC time to it like I did when I started. The last few updates have been minor because of that (7 weeks since the last update at this point), but I plan to get back into it soon.
It's called "Outfitting A Pyramid" and is here in the Survival Forum. Feel free to check it out and give feedback here or in the topic.
I made a gold farm with over 400 interconnected nether portals. 100% legit, survival. Even with efficiency IV, collecting all of the obsidian took forever!

Pretty!
Minecart Systems are something that works to just throw in
Minecraft is weird like that in how you can play so much in so little time then be done for a long time
