I've been playing Minecraft a while and over time I've started some projects that I ended up never finishing, I was wondering if anyone else has ever done this often. If so do you have any pictures of what it looked like when you abandoned it, any story behind why you were building it, or what was the reason that you never finished it?
For me I was building a village in a ravine that was under a lake, I first decided to build it when I was walking around and found an underwater ravine right next to a village, I figured I'd build an underground village with it since I never built much underground before.I ended up giving up on it because it was taking a lot of time and squids kept spawning in the lake above then they'd swim down and constantly fall on the fences and walkways.
Here's some pictures of what it looked like when I stopped working on it.
After giving up on that I decided to build something on the surface instead. I decided I would built a large mansion, I started with building a clock-tower for it I ended up finding out that it was going to be to tall to fit within the height limit after placing around 20,000 blocks. After that I gave up on building the rest of the mansion and stopped playing that world.
Here's a picture of what it looked like.
On one of my worlds I was doing the City Construction Challenge, one of the challenges I had to do was build a market area for my town. I decided to build it floating in a nearby ocean. I planned for it to have a large building in the center and have the surrounding area be made of wool in different patterns with a couple of shops and stalls on them. I ended up not liking the wool patterns I made and since it was built over an ocean if I tried to mine up the wool so that I could reuse it and try out a different pattern it would fall to deep into the ocean for me to get it back without drowning. In the end I just left it there half finished and started building something else.
So what are your stories about any projects that you gave up on?
I've fallen off of hollowing out a mountain, and so many houses before in single player worlds. I have been trying to make a flying island on at least five different maps, but always end up dropping that.
That clocktower thing you have there, though, that really sucks. To run out of height after so much work is like the worst possible that can happen in a world...

A while after I gave up on it I figured out that I would have needed to start it on layer 7 to have it fit within the height limit. Also realized that there might not be enough endstone in the end if I finished the clocktower and tried building the rest of the mansion.

Yeah, I have a lot of free time and not much else to do.
