I'd just drink a fire resistance potion. Never leave home without 'em. I always have a potion of fire resistance and a potion of regeneration in my inventory, and my armor is tough enough to give me plenty of time to get to them (don't even need them in my hotbar).
It's been so long I can't remember the last time I died in lava. Until yesterday I could have said it's been so long I can't remember the last time I died in Minecraft, but a recent encounter with kinetic energy is still quite vivid (and hilarious, love the new death message).
I could not play with keepinventory on. It would take all the challenge out of the game and make it boring. I used to die a lot, but over time and through many worlds I have learned how to play and developed the skills needed to survive, and that's much more satisfying.
Not that I'm dissing people who do. I understand some are builders more than fighters or adventurers. My GF plays that way. She enjoys the challenge of finding and gathering the resources she needs to build (so she plays in survival rather than creative), but she doesn't like the stress of mob battles and imminent death (however, she does play on easy rather than peaceful). As such, she has never been to The End, and spends as little time in the nether as possible. Once she even opened her world to LAN and asked me to go to the nether and get her some quartz, nether wart and blaze rods. That was funny and sweet. One day I'll get her to open a LAN game and go to The End with me (and I'll probably be the one to regret it when she dies...).
I died in a server today, UGH! Lost all my stuff, 4 shulkers, 1 elytra, prot 5 armor, a noble mk.2 (a really really really awesome pickaxe with efficiency 20, ub 20, fortune 8!!)
I wouldn't be too happy losing my concrete and armor, but at the moment it wouldn't be a huge problem. Also Mojang doesn't own Minecraft as far as I know. Apparently Microsoft bought Minecraft a few years back.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I don't even play Minecraft much anymore yet here I am on the Minecraft forums for some reason...
My biggest loss was when a creeper got into my base without me seeing him. He blew me up along with six chests of my valuables. I lost about half of it permanently when it despawned.
I was in shock for a while, but I learned from the mistake and carried on.
1. Drag the current copy (right-click-drag) of the world I plan to play (the world as it was before my last exploration) from the Desktop to C:\UserName\AppData\Roaming\minecraft\TempStorage (I created this directory).
2. Drag a copy (right-click-copy) of the world I plan to play (the current world as it exists now) from C:\UserName\AppData\Roaming\minecraft\saves to my Desktop (I have 2 emergency backups should I fall into lava),
3. Check and delete anything found in C:\UserName\AppData\Roaming\minecraft\crash-reports.
4. Check and delete everything with a date (YYYY-MM-DD-#.log.gz) found in C:\UserName\AppData\Roaming\minecraft\logs
5. Open Minecraft and explorer/build to my heart's content knowing that anything catastrophic can easily be undone!!!
Had you done that you could have restored (copied what is on the desktop) to C:\UserName\AppData\Roaming\minecraft\saves and lost nothing except the time it took you to fall into the lava,

Cheats not on, accept it as part of the game. Respawn and move on. Or rage quit and start a new game. I suppose the choice will depend on how much you've invested into this world.
It >IS< important to remember that the process of acquiring items >IS< a part of the game. Thus, the need to reacquire a bunch of gear and possessions should be seen as a challenge and task to give you purpose in game.
so I play on bedrock i was looting a village while trying to find a bamboo forest I found a tiger village while searching when I loot I saw a huge revenine I fall inside and lost my horse a mending diamond pickaxe a lodestone compass iron axe a lot of food some book and iron i was shocked as I thought I will just take some damage but I die and keep invetory was not off so I lost the most valuable thing my diamond pickaxe

a zombie knocked me into a lava pool with me having ALL my stuff I want to die
If I had netherite tools I would be fine no big deal, It would depend wich items I would've been carrying in my inventory.

Just before I begin playing MC, I
