Hello, ill like to disscuss why stone tools are the best (for me),Ill be because I always mine and mine in a survival server calded The Walls and wood tools waste lots of wood, but stone tools u need 2 sticks, anyways, if u mine in caves u will meet sometimes a abandoned mine, and there is wood plaks there, so u can make stone tools easy.
Another thing,they mine fast stone the stone tools than wood pick, so it is easier to branch mine, also since stone is WAY to abundent, its easy to find,not only that but u can get lapiz lazuri with stone pick and iron ore,so thats why I always take 2 or 3 picks of stone when mining

Anyhow, i use the minerals i find by mining for these reasons,1st,i am not gonna waste time using iron tools like dumb to find more ores,2nd,I use mainly the iron for personal use like rails and Fixing armor, and 3rd, I USE ALL THE STONE I MINE,for decorations, for housing and finnaly for flooring, so who uses like dumb iron or diamond pick to mine cobblestone.

(sorry for being so hyper, its just that i do like having 2 stacks of iron)

I must disagree with this, Though stone tools are easy to use, they don't have as much durability as Iron tools and Diamond tools. Iron is very abundant in abandoned mine shafts and in the ground. Though there's a ton of stone there to make the stone tools, if you can find a good amount of Iron/Diamonds those tools would work better for mining, because they last longer.

Diamond is a rare ore, and villager trades are unreliable.

Well of course he burns their families, too. He plays Minecraft. That implies a certain level of thoroughness to how his mind works. Also, stone tools will do in a pinch, but I don't know what I'd do with all my newly useless iron if I only used stone gear.

Right. If you're going to be spending a lot of time underground, Iron tools are the way to go. They're much quicker and last much longer than stone tools. You're very very likely to get much more iron as a return on your investment than you spent to craft them in the first plate. I made the mistake of using only stone tools for so long, but when I was rich with Iron I finally made the switch, and wished I had done it sooner.

For general uses, iron is better than stone. I still use diamonds for everything and enchant the hell out of it.

It all depends what you're doing. If I'm caving or exploring, I prefer my iron tools. But I'm currently building a stone tower in the middle of a desert and I'm using a stone generator - and the generator runs slower than a stone pick can harvest, so there's no sense using my iron for it.

Personally I prefer Iron as well, Mine at least 3 iron before it breaks and you've returned your investment. And you're likely to get more than 3 before it breaks so really you would be building a surplus of it while covering more ground in less time. Although I agree that a stone pick is more than good enough for a stone generator. BTW Welcome to the Forum.

If you get far enough into the game you should definetly go with diamond. You can enchant it very easily, and the enchant will stay for a lot longer and go way further if you have diamond compared to stone. Your 30 levels will last 5 times as long, as well as mining 3 times faster. Much better for long trips.

only when building do i use stone tools, mines and logging i use iron for the axes and diamonds for the picks

Depends on your patience. If you enjoy the slower stone pickaxe, go for it! However, I would aim for iron tools, or even better, diamond tools, mainly because of their faster speeds and efficiency. It's all personal preference.

Well, its just a opinion, anyhow i use them every time i mine even if i have 2 IRON picks cause 1st,i dont wanna waste irons tools like dumb,2nd,i keep the iron for personal uses like rails or for repairing armor,and 3rd,I USE LOTS OF STONE for fencing decoration,housing and flooring,so who uses a iron or diamond pick like dumb to mine coal (sorry for the way i said stuff its just i like using all the stone i mine

Iron is incredibly common, so I just stick with iron once I stockpile some.

Not terribly. Had 17 of them without any Fortune enchants after 1.5 hours of starting a world.

Since when are diamonds rare? Seriously, I don't even have to try and I strike diamond ore. Three full stacks too.

I would only recommend stone tools early into your Minecraft adventure until you find iron. My strategy is to make only a wooden pick, mine stone, upgrade to stone pick, upgrade to iron pick, then upgrade to dimaond eventually.
