So,
A little over half a year ago, after playing minecraft religiously since early alpha(not back to back, I DO have a life), I feel out of love for the game. This was around the time that the map generator sucked, and there was no challenge left in the game(still is a little like that), and so I stopped playing for a good bit. I followed on the forums, and checked out updates when they came out, but really didn't allocate the time. The thing that finally got me playing was multiplayer, and since finding I don't have to be lonely all the time, I haven't played survival at all. I don't know why, but I feel like the game has no meaning unless I can play with other people.
Does anyone else feel like this? I thought it would be interesting to see how many other people have lost interest in singleplayer. I guess my reason is also driven by outside factors, school, summer jobs etc, but I don't know how many other people play survival instead of multiplayer. Also, how often do you play a week? And for how long?
Hopefully this is the right section to be asking this question in!
Interesting. I actually might get into singleplayer more now that the redstone update has come out. But what about types of servers? Do you play on build or event servers? build = pvp, creative etc.

I prefer servers with balanced RPG aspects to it, which is very hard to come by these days, so hard that I have yet to find one...so I just play privately with friends.
Yeah, I'm more of a multiplayer guy. I run a private server from my computer that I play with friends on. I really only use Single Player for my redstone testing and stuff like that.
EDIT: Also, I really only prefer survival servers, not roleplay, pvp, or anything like that. Although FTB looks fun, thinking of trying it out.

I know exactly what you mean! I was playing on a lite rp server for a time, but it got to big and turned into an economy server, soo yeah. It also had the problem of not being very well planed out, which can be a hinder for a lot of servers now days, due to there being so many players to join(I guess thats what whitelists are for.)

That's the greatest issue with the big "RPG" servers. There's not much RPG other than saying you got to do these quest that deliver paper to someone or something. That's not RPG, RPG is when I go out on an epic quest to save Minecraftia and I feel like I have/doing something awesome within my own experience. I only saw 1, literally 1 server ever do this. However, despite the community growing large, it shut down like a year or two ago.
Anyway, multiplayer for me is the way to go, but only in a small community, unless it's a successful RPG server, which doesn't seem to exist these days.

Again yes yes yes! I agree with you entirely. Although, still some other big ones can work, like Azeroth( I think that is what it is called) and lord of the craft, but you are right, they don't give you the rp sensation.
Edit: Turns out there is no server called Azeroth. Lol bad memory. Also, I think that the new event crazed servers(networks) are semi-good, like the shotbow network.
I've been playing since the seeecret friday update that added minecarts, and at that time multiplayer was practically non functional. So I played tons of single player. But ever since multiplayer has been reliable, it's been just about the only thing I play. Like some other people said, I do test stuff or mess around in singleplayer. But that's pretty much the only time I play singleplayer now.
I mostly play Single player, not that I hate Multiplayer (I play FTB with friends on a server I run, but there usually busy with work and/or collage). And I just hate the risk/thought of being grifed on a other servers.
I usually don't play online because my computer can't handle it. If I'm playing on a different computer, I like playing multiplayer though.
Sometimes I feel lonely playing by myself, but then I look at all my proboscis-nosed friends and I feel happy again.
I play on multiplayer because I usually get lonely traveling a whole minecraft world by myself in single player. Plus there is the fact that I have never kept on playing a single player world for at least a week. By then, I ragequit because I die and loose all my items. On the other hand, if you die and lose all your stuff in multiplayer, just "borrow" some stuff from your minecraft neighbors, ( I've done this before).
P.S. Don't tell a person with the username, skyeflake, that kkdragon was the one who "borrowed" all her diamonds and bread.

Yeah I find that the lonely ness really gets to me... I guess minecraft is good at stirring emotions!
Well since in really enjoying this server called MCInfected i really havent gone onto my main singleplayer world, since a lot of people enjoy playing with there mates a large amount of people dont play singleplayer.
Cant wait to get back into my singleplayer world actually now that i talk about it
