I've heard some poeple have iron farms and I'm wondering how to make one. I kknow the nerd herd has one on Red Cubed and I'm sure many others do too. But I was wondering how do you guys make a farm for a mineral without tekkit?
An iron farm is an artificial village (or several of them, spaced far enough apart to remain separate villages) in which iron golems are spawned, and then immediately moved to a holding cell outside of the village boundary so that a new one may spawn in its place. The golems are allowed to collect in the holding cell while you work nearby. Then later, at your convenience, the collected golems are killed (using lava or suffocation, since they are immune to drowning and fall damage) and drop 3-5 iron ingots each. An efficient iron farm will spawn a golem roughly every six minutes, on average, for a total of about ten golems (30-50 ingots) per hour, per module. See the link in my sig for more info on all things village-related, including iron golems and farms, and links to tutorial videos for a few different styles of iron farm.
There is a video somewhere from a reliable source (according tot this forum) lemme see if i can find it.
I think this is the video:
I myself have never tried it since i would surely die and i have no time lol but it is something i wanna implement
I am currently building the one linked in the above post, in my vanilla world. it work's well, I've only completed one side of it and have already picked up about 4 stacks of iron. I suggest building it backwards from the video - I.E. loot collection first, then the transport tubes, and finally the villages.
