Hello.
I am confused on what entrances I should use for my Cave Base. I already tried a few but, just don't like them. So if you guys have a few ideas please share them with me.
Hidden piston doors. But not just 2 stacked on top of each other, no.. some 3x3 door with a hole in the middle, then set-up the pistons on a delay so you press a button, they all retract and open the door, and when you walk in, the close. Like what Etho does.
Depends. If you're playing SSP, go as flashy as you can. Rim the door with emerald blocks. Sparkling redstone repeaters can give you that Las Vegas feel.
If you want a hidden base in SMP, simplicity is sometimes a winner. Just putting a wooden door in a recess where it's not immediately visible might be enough. I had a door once in a jungle cave; vines spilled down and made the door very hard to notice.
If you're in SSP, put a huge arrow out of glowstone pointing at the entrance, the mobs won't care. In SMP, the best entrance is a truly hidden one. Simply find or make some landmark that you can easily remember, and then make a piston door. For example, if your cave entrance is in a plains biome, you might make the cave appear to end early with smooth stone but really contain a piston door. Then you'd make a pool of water nearby. No one would think there's any base nearby - but you will place a lever 3 blocks west of the furthest north gravel block in that water pool, flip it, break it, walk into your house and hit another lever to close the gate. Invulnerable to everyone except OCD gravel miners and xrayers. Guess which one of those groups constitutes more than 25% of minecrafters now?

Minecraft [Alpha] 1.7.3 had blocks that you can use to build with.
Minecraft now has blocks that you can use to build with.
Nothing has changed in my opinion." That is all.
