I spent SO long trying to find diamonds, and when I did, I made a diamond pickaxe. I used it to make a portal to the nether, and then shoved it in a chest never to be used again for fear of it getting broken or burned. anyone else do this? or am i just a dork?
My avatar is a two tailed fox named Miles "Tails" Prower. He may only be 8 years old,but he is a highly skilled engineer. He stands 2'7" tall, and can use his tails to fly short distances, and run at near supersonic speeds.
make a diamond mine. by the sounds of it, you dont have one. if you have a decent diamond mine, you will no longer have a second thought before carrying dia items to the nether
dias can be mined usually on floors 6~14 i think
I know what you are talking about. What I ended up doing was just doing was just enchanting the pick by grinding exp. I managed to get a good enchant so when I started branch mining, diamonds started coming a whole lot easier. But before enchantments my material of choice was iron, obviously as gold wasn't as ideal and yeah my diamonds were stored three stone blocks below my main storage.
In the begining, you feel that diamond is extremly precious. It is, but not as much as you think. With the new anvils, you can repair it too, so if you have an XP farm or just like mob hunting, you won't even have to get a new pick.
Diamonds to me are valuable but I never use them for tool-making. My most common tools would have to be that of iron, so that situations such as yourself never occur where you're put into a situation that you might lose it
