So, i just killed the Enderdragon for my first time ever in survival and i would like to know how you guys did killing the Enderdragon. Did you die by falling into the void or did you kill the Enderdragon without dying once?
My first time, I was extra cautious. I wore a pumpkin so as not to stir the Endermen, but it made it hard to see anything. Also, I took out the Ender Crystals with arrows, but for some reason I decided to kill the dragon with a sword, despite me having a Power II bow with 2 stacks of arrows still (waited him to swoop down, then strike twice).
I ended up taking ages, but when I finally got the last hit, it was satisfying.
I died like four times before I actually managed to kill the dragon, and that's not even counting the several suicide-runs I made just to scout the area. Those were just the four times I went in and was actually like "alright I'ma try again to kill that damn dragon." First three times he knocked me into the void, and on the fourth try I actually did it.
I had heard to bring in a bunch of snowballs to blow up the crystals, but the pillars were so high, it was hard to aim right. I brought several stacks, but only managed to hit a couple crystals before I ran out of them. I had much better luck just using arrows to blow the crystals since they're more powerful and have a straighter trajectory. As for the dragon, I had a hard time hitting it with arrows because it's far away, high above my level and a moving target, so I just would wait for him to swoop and then bash him with my sword.
Cool, i was extra cautious and took all my diamond armor and a bow with power 4 and infinity and a diamond sword with sharpness 4. I think that was a bit overkill
I've only killed him once. I went there in creative mode and tickled him to death with a buttercup. I just wanted to see the credits. Now, I never want to see them, ever again.

It was easy for me, I used a diamond sword, and didn't get hit once. Then, I chucked everything onto the ground to suicide, so I could kill the dragon with a dead chicken. True story.
My first time killing the Enderdragon in SSP was on Hardcore. Once you develop a good strategy, it's not hard to avoid dying. You can imagine how nervous I was entering that portal - once I go in, there's absolutely no turning back, and the dragon loves to get a cheap shot in right when you spawn. I just got really lucky and was out of range when I spawned.
I've only killed him once in an on-modded fresh survival minecraft world. Back when it first came out actually.
I went in with un-enchanted iron armor, and diamond sword with what I think was Fire Aspect and Bane of Arthropods (So same as un-enchanted diamond sword ;P), and a bow with no enchantments I think, because there were no enchantments for bows at that point I think?
I was very surprised the dragon could go through blocks, so he destroyed the chest I was hoping to store stuff in, so I went out there and tried to murder it. I wore a pumpkin on my head, and died twice, but only of fall damage, not in the void. In the end it was very satisfying to finally kill it. My heart must have been pumping by the end of it. xD
After saving up enough diamonds and experience to make diamond armor and a level 50 enchanted sword (back when enchanting leval cap. was 50) I walked into the portal and found that I had spawned on a floating obsidian platform. Thank god i brought some cobble was my first thought. So I started building a bridge. Of course, the one time I really didn't want to fall off while building, my finger slipped off shift and I fell into the void. After saving up more diamonds for diamond armor and other supplies I went back in. I used snowballs to break the crystals (I had died a lot breaking the crystals but never lost my diamond armor). After all those deaths, I didn't die again and I successfully killed the ender dragon.

You think magic isn't real? Consider this: for every person, there is a sentence -- a series of words -- which has the power to destroy them.
