Here are some pretty easy diamond tips
1.Find a (deep) ravine dig at the very bottom you will find something good
2. Forget branch mining it is a waste of time and you almost never get diamonds
3. Bedrock is NOT a good diamond sign it just means you went too deep
4. If you find lapis there HAS to be diamonds near because guess what is more rare (suprisingly)
5. TNT is a BIG NO-NO if you are killing creepers for it guess what, there is a better chance you will get blown up
6. Don't admire your frikin' diamonds while walking you might fall into some lava and die
7. Find diamonds? Do not find more going near lava will increase your chances of losing your diamonds which is bad.
8. Enderman do not drop diamonds they used to but not anymore that is so PAX demo
9. Congratz you found diamondz now go to a block next to you don't dig down.
10. Listen to this topic and do what the tips say but if you want to branch mine and waste billions of years
be my guest
Finding diamonds is a lot about luck. Both branch mining and caving are equally suited to finding diamond. Why?
Because, you can have a maximum of 8 diamond blocks per chunk (a 16x16 horizontal area, stretching from around layer 5 to layer 16). The game generates the ores before generating caves, so if you are searching caves, there is a high probability that your diamond got deleted when the cave was generated.
Branch mining specifically for diamond is good because:
1. The diamond ore blocks couldn't be deleted unless you run into a cave.
2. The diamond is constrained to a fairly specific vertical area. With branch mining, you can see 4 of those ~11 possible layers. Therefore, you have a good chance of uncovering a surface of the diamond ore located in that chunk.
However, branch mining is slower, and the lava layer almost always has an empty block above it, uncovering even more cave extensions, so overall they even out fairly nicely.
Let us get this down. Branch mining is boring I want no more posts about this crap
Let us get this down. Just because you made this thread, you don't have the right to deem what is discuss-able and what is not discuss-able.
And branch mining may be boring to you, but some people find it enjoyable. You find caves, ores, and, if you do right, you cover a large space, missing almost no blocks that may contain ore.
Edit: Also, just because it is your experience, doesn't mean it will happen to someone else. This game is all about different experiences each time you play. You may climb up a mountain and find some cows. Another person might climb up a mountain and find a waterfall to ride down.
Lapis lazuli does NOT influence diamond spawn rates.
LAPIS/REDSTONE/IRON/WHATEVER does NOT impact where diamond spawns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's totally random. Also, branch mining is not a waste of time. I found 16 diamonds in around an hour doing it the other day. Yes, it's boring, but I rarely find caves that are deep enough to actually have the potential to show diamonds, which is why I prefer branch mining to discover deep caves to explore. You get the best of both worlds that way imo.

PSSH you can't do it
A wise man once said, that nothing really dies, it just comes back in another form, then he died. So next time you see an ant, it could be him!
You're tips are too good.
PSSH you can't do it

Not that long.
Efficiency 4 is where its at.

I concur.
I prefer branch mining. Getting lost in caves is a *****.

Of course, this is more to fill in my ever growing demand for more cobblestone, but the ores and lapiz are a nice bonus.
Got 20+ diamond from my last one.

Super Hostile maps I've completed: Spellbound Caves (Yeah, I pretty much suck.)
