Haha, but that advancement is the real challenge of the game right there... probably more difficult than what Minecraft wants you to believe is the endgame. In any case, I don't see myself hitting that one anytime soon either. I feel like it's just one of those elective achievements that really serves no purpose but can be fun to try and get.
Well, actually, it IS the endgame. Because to get that advancement, you need to get to a Shulker which means defeating the Enderdragon...unless you have some sort of death wish in building a kilometre long bridge over the void on your own.
Tell me if I am wrong: It seems to me that biomes that have already explored do not change with updates. I know that when bamboo was added, my local jungle did not have any and I had to go searching for a new one. The villagers did not change their appearance although their taking jobs did. Having said that, the oceans did change. The bees did too. hmm

Yes, if you already loaded an area on land it cannot update, and ones underwater only update if you were in them for a very short time (from 1.8 and 1.13).

As far as I know only ocean monuments can generate in existing chunks, and to make the sort of changes you are implying means that chunks would be entirely regenerated from scratch since it involves both biome and terrain changes and I haven't heard of this happening (only people who want to trim oceans so they regenerate with new biomes).

After defeating the Ender Dragon my focus is building and mining, that's it really. I could go for the shulker boxes and even the elytra but it's not mandatory to progress in builds, and even in built passage ways where I would deliberately require teleportation to get to I could just use Ender pearls for them. As for the question of the OP, no, I don't start new worlds with every new update, I have done a change recently, but only because I wanted to try a different generated random seed, now that I'm happy with all the worlds I currently have I see no reason to change them.
The nether update will undoubtedly give me the extra biomes, it will take a bit of exploration to find them, but it can be done.
Even with existing worlds, new biome/world generation updates will be present the further out you go to parts of your world you haven't explored yet. So really it is a waste of time to reset worlds with every new update.

Well, that's a matter of opinion. Personally, I don't build things in survival to be impressive but practical and for me travelling kilometres to find new biomes isn't practical. (Plus I don't usually get past the eye of ender crafting stage anyway).
I do save my creative worlds across updates sometimes though, but travel is more trivial in Creative.

Survival should still retain its option to allow builds if the player is willing to put in the time for them, for the time being it does, monsters don't spawn if there is sufficient lighting, if you use half slabs or if you're in a mushroom biome in the over world etc.
I do some builds for practical purposes, but not all of them and I don't like eye sores or clunky machinery uglying up my worlds, which is why I don't bother with some redstone contraptions. I tell players in my worlds if they want to build those things they do it elsewhere, or in their own worlds.
Minecraft is not real life, and not everything needs to be work related.
The point of a game is to have fun, not remind you of what is possibly the worst aspect of real life.
Fair enough. I just have most fun working, not being an artist. It takes me much longer to make something look nice and still be useful than to make it practical and just not a total eyesore.
I do like to build in survival. However, I am not very creative and aesthetic is a problem for me. I get ideas from others mostly. I have literally build a Woodland Mansion in one of my worlds. Since then, I almost alway create a map room in my homes. I do like exploring. My dream is to have a wall with 7x7 area of fully explored mapes.
Although I've answered this on page #1, I have been watching the latest update videos from the likes of ibxtoycat and xisumavoid and and it kind of does make me want to start a new world for the nether when we get the full stable release. Although there are some things that I disagree with regarding direction, it does make me want to try having a home in t nether, I already liked the biomes, but now with the basalt biome and blackstone it does really make me want to try building a survival home in the Nether (Like alot of people will I guess) and trying to survive there bring over crops, saplings and everything I need in the overworld to stay in the nether. I think it could be a really interesting challenge for me.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
