What "scared you in Minecraft when you first played in survival mode? What scared me was when I had to open and close doors or open and close chests or eat. I thought that evil mobs can hear me doing my tasks and they could find me.
Skeletons. I still actually fear skeletons more than any other mob. I'm something of a perfectionist, and having them not hit me is really freaking hard. Plus, I get nearly all of my arrows from them, so I can't shoot them back most of the time. Before the sounds changed, I also found their shooting sound very startling.

SPAAAAAAAAAAAACE!
"Look at me still talking when there's science to do. When I look out there it makes me glad I'm not you."
Honestly? Squids. I thought they would attack me if I went in the water when they were nearby. Then when they didn't, I thought they would at least fight back when I attacked them. Then when they didn't, I was like "derp."
I wasn't really scared of anything when I first started playing because by then I had watched a lot of Minecraft videos and knew a lot about the game. Maybe sub-conciously, Herobrine, but he's most likely not real.
Just the thought of a mob that can kill you instantly, with such a horrifying backstory, and not being notice in the coding of a game, scares the living crap out of me now when I play.
I used to be scared, but then I took a wiki to the knee (Along with some knowledge...)
1. I used to be scared of Herobrine. But, fortunately for me, I know the real truth now (Not "ZOMG U CRAZY HEROBRINE NOT REAL U STOOPID KID)
2. Endermen. Until I mass murdered them in the end, along with their dragon.

To all of you people who think Notch is still working on the game, he stopped working on Minecraft in late 2011. Get your facts straight and stop spamming his twitter about Minecraft updates.
The jump scares were what got me; mobs popping out of nowhere. Peacefully mining ores and pressing ever deeper into the cave system and downwards into the earth while lighting up the dark areas but all of a sudden a creeper/skeleton or zombie would loom out from the shadows is usually what did me in.
I remember one time I was starting out a new world and I was entering the mouth of a cave whose opening was a rather steep incline. Rather abruptly a creeper appeared and it gave me such a fright that I immediately and unthinkingly turned tail and hopped my way out of the cave entrance and ran back to my spawn point lol. I didn't even realize what I was doing, my brain just acted of its own accord.
Then I got into multiplayer and somehow the mobs don't seem as scary when there are other people around, even if they're miles and miles away. This helped me deal appropriately with mobs in single player by smashing them in the face with my sword rather than.jumping in my seat. I don't get frightened as easily by the game anymore, although sometimes I'm caught off guard when something sneaks up behind me.
well,Lots of things scared me when I started playing for the first time. First my map generated on an island with a minshaft so I was down in there wandering around, and I turned a corner and RIGHT THERE was a skeleton. I jumped out of my skin, and thought i was running away from it when I fell into a ravine and into lava. my other first fears were mostly every hostile mob, mostly endermen though.the freaked me out.
It was when i first started playing. I had just built a beutiful wood cabin (stupid on the first day of course) and thought that that weird looking green thing moving slowly toward me was for food purposes. Suddenly i hear this hissing sound and i turn around in time to see a friggen explosion that destroyed half my house. Headphones on high volume made me jump from my desk and almost break my kneecaps. Needless to say, I HATE CREEPERS!!!

You think magic isn't real? Consider this: for every person, there is a sentence -- a series of words -- which has the power to destroy them.
