Everyone has bad habits that end up getting in the way somehow.
For me:
1. Most of my houses are made of wood.
2. If I get really bored of a world, I tend to delete it instead of making it better.
3. I get horribly lost really easily.
4. Getting attached to sheep
5. Going spelunking with a nearly-full inventory
I've had these habits since ever. I never seem to learn. xD
I always go spelunking with full inventories. I always wear full suits of diamond armor (And somehow, it doesn't even make a dent in my treasury when I die a millon times. I am rich...). Almost all my structures are wooden. I always look at endermen. I take on spider jockeys with my fists (and win, so that is not that bad...)
When playing, I could right, left or middle click rapidly up to 10 times for no reason (it's annoying when I'm running, right click and have a sword in hand). I can't seem to stop myself. It's the true form of OCD, lads.
One bad habit I can't get rid of is starting new survival worlds just to have the thrill of starting from scratch and building a new house, but usually after that's completed, I lose interest. Until I start another world that is...
I can't build any house unless the ground is completely flat, no 1 block up or down.
I mine ALL THE ORES.
And don't throw away any of them... (even though i have a deicated chest for each ore and may need to expand it...
I spam torches in caves to the point where they're unable to spawn any mobs at all. This is fine if I plan on/have a mob system, but I do it in every world regardless.
I really need to start doing base camps when branch mining. The run from the end of my tunnels back to my house when my inventory is full or my last pickaxe breaks is getting absurdly long. v.v
i keep a lifetime supply of porkchop in the basement without telling my wife. this one time, she caught me in action and slapped me in the face. she starts crying about how rude i am. that's pretty much the story about my divorce

Like what you see, darling? why not click the green button it sure does help me
I also have the nasty habit of forgetting to unload inventory before exploring, It hasn't cost me yet for the most part, thankfully but I'm trying to learn when I have diamonds, gold, iron, etc, to make regular stops at my base room when mining or make a chest near the entrance of a cave I go exploring. I have to learn to travel as light as possible incase something happens.
I've also found that I'm pretty OCD about things being symmetrical, functional, and uniform. If a block is out of place it bugs me till I put it right.

I also spam torches, to the point where light level is like at 13 for the whole cave.
I also must EXPLORE ALL THE CAVES!!

A real shame, too, because I wouldn't mind building pointless things if I could get past the "Why?".

That is so, so true.
As is this.
If I was helpful at all, don't forget about the little green up arrow!
Check out the Fantasy City Build Challenge - it's pretty amazing!
