So, my minecraft broke I think.
I run the launcher and click "Run" and then the launcher closes and nothing else happens. wat do?
Wait, if you're using the launcher the game should just run when you double click the launcher icon. If your PC is asking you something after that and you're having to click 'run' then that isn't normal. As someone else said, try right clicking the launcher icon and telling it to run as Administrator. I believe you need to be an administrator to do this however.
You may want to install an alternate launcher like MultiMC if you cannot fix the default launcher at all. To get your world over to the new launcher, create an instance, log in and then exit, hit view folder, and replace the instance's .minecraft with yours (I think that's how you do it). This may be more trouble than it's worth though.

Nah, my computer always does that. It just makes sure I want to run Minecraft.
And I'll try reinstalling Java, that's probably it.
If you tell the launcher to run as administrator it shouldn't ask if you want to run it anymore (I think) or it might take creating an exception in the firewall settings. But that's beside the point.
I suggest that you go download the latest launcher from minecraft.net, then rename your .minecraft folder to something like .minecraft_old, then use the new launcher and it should download a completely fresh install of minecraft. If that works you can then move your worlds over to the new install.
Also if your PC is 64 bit, make absolutely sure you have the 64bit version of Java installed. It makes a huge difference on how well minecraft runs.
While force-updating does tend to work in a lot of situations, I've encountered a few where force-updating didn't solve the issue, but doing a manual clean install as I outlined above did.
If doesnt work for reinstalling java, Try downloading other launcher.
And, what are the troubleshooting error says? How much is your GB/Memory?
Your System?
Is it you have OpenGL?
Go to %appdata% and delete .minecraft. Re install minecraft on the minecraft downloads page.
Go to computer and right click. Click on properties and where it says system type, it should say 32 bit or 64 bit. Whichever one it is, install Java 32 bit or 64 bit whichever one your computer is.
Uninstall any programs you've installed recently that could of made changes to your computer.
Last but not least if it still doesn't run, restore your computer to a point where minecraft could start up.
Odd. The browser version works just fine, but no matter what I do, I cant get the default Launcher to run, nor any alternate launchers(I tried). MC related things are having trouble as well...
