Give me some tips and tricks about what are you doing while building your big projects for your entertainment.
I listen to music or talk with my friends.
By doing something you like. Say you want to build a castle, but you hate the medieval era. You'll get bored quickly. Say you want to build a modern city, but love the modern era. You won't get so bored as easily.
I tend to watch other people play minecraft whenever I play. For some reason seeing what other people are doing and comparing their builds to mine gives me some sort of satisfaction.
I usually listen to music while talking/chatting with people, sometimes I'll host a server and have someone record me building so that I can make a timelapse of it
Eh, you don't have to do it all at once. You could do it for like half an hour, and then take a break, or work on a different project, or like... sleep or something. ;P

On big survival projects, the point where I'd likely get bored is the resource gathering. And usually with that I'll either make a game with it, or use it to make personal notes on efficiency or things like that. And I have a few worlds I rotate between so I am not doing the same thing over and over and over and over...
I get bored very easily. I don't know why... It's just that, when I find a huge Mountain Range and want to turn it into a mansion, i just end up playing on a server or creating a new world to avoid it. When I want to build something big, I end up having to postponing the build for no reason at all. Maybe it's because perfecting something could be a lot of trouble when I can work on smaller things quickly.
Just take a break from it at times. Sometimes I will just log in for a play session and just have a smaller portion I want to get done and then I will go do other things for the rest of the play session. Don't make the project a grind, just knock it out a little bit at a time and eventually it will get done.

Also sometimes your imagination is bigger than your ability to create what you envisioned. Before I commit to a project I sit down and do some planning and get a feel for just how big the project will be. If I feel it's just too big I try to decide whether I can scale it down to something more manageable or if I need to just scrap the idea altogether.

If you work too long at times, you could get bored and don't feel like completing the project. Usually that's means you have to stop for a while and take break, listen to some music, or do other stuff. After that, you should probably get less bored from building.
That's what writers do whenever they feel like they don't want to finish their book anymore.
Usually the project IS my attempt to not be bored...
Uh. Do things little by little, have a little chicken farm, go visit some sheep, write in books... I don't know. Like I said, I make projects because I'm bored with normal Minecrafting.

i usually just listen to music or something like that
YoGPoD, The Shaft, Hat Films, Rooster Teeth/Drunk Tank, etc.
If you're a small map maker, send me a PM and if it's good enough I'll advertise it in my sig.
This is a good idea. That way you can listen to MC players talk about minecraft while you play minecraft

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
