What do you remember on your first time playing Minecraft? Post here what happened. What happened to me was that my brother showed me Minecraft in Beta 1.1, but he didn't tell me anything about it. Like how to craft, what wood is useful for, How long day and night is, etc. So half of the day was just figuring out how to play. It was turning night, so I got so I dug underground and made a horrible base (I didn't know what a door was at the moment). I was very impatient, so I broke the block above me to check if it was daytime yet. When I broke the block, a creeper fell in my horrible base and blew me up. I felt like the biggest Minecraft noob ever, probably cause I was.

just a joke.
Anyways the first time I played MC was classic on the Minecraft website.
I would always see people on youtube playing it so I had to check it out.
I guess that's when I got hooked.
I started playing Minecraft in... I think Beta1.8.
My entire first minecraft day was just me messing around with squids because I had no idea what else to do or how to play XD. At night, I just got cornered by a bunch of skeletons and died (I had no base at all). Yay!
i dug straight down, the thing you are never supposed to do and found 8 diamonds and a cave so large and havent explorered it all yet.
from then on i never watched those lame tutorials.
Killed a creeper with a stone sword back then when there were no critical hits. ( I basically rushed in and killed it before it blew up, I still don't know how that worked but I survived xD)

"Oh, whats this? Where's the quest givers? Hey look, a octopus, squid, whatever."
5 hours of squid killing later.
"Did it just get dark all the sudden? What the- SKELETON OH MY GERD *dead*"
Proceed to build a house out of sand, and not know why sand fell and killed me.
I had heard about Minecraft a long time ago, and seen a couple pictures, but I didnt think much of it. Just looked like a crappy game to me so I didnt really care about it.
Then one day my friend asked me to come over and see his 'awesome house he built in Minecraft'.
I thought "Ugh, that game? Why the hell would you play that? It looks so crappy."
Finally, I just went down and watched him show me his house (which was built into a large cave system with lava waterfalls). He asked me to play, and reluctantly, I took his spot and started fooling around with it.
After a minute I said "Screw it, this is boring." and we did something else.
I think a few days later he gave me his username and password and told me to try it out if I wanted to. I was bored so I started a world and like 4 hours later I finally realized it was about 2am and I had been playing this amazingly addicting game that I thought was stupid and had crappy graphics a week ago.
(Btw, I still use his username and password. I've never purchased the game myself. Muahahaha)
My first night was pretty much everyone's first night; except I went in knowing nothing about minecraft at all, I bought it on a whim, and died a lot the first night.
My first time actually playing minecraft was at my friends house, using one of his friend's accounts. He wanted me to help with his base on a factions server. (I had, of course, watched him play it before then, so it's not like he was saying "hey, come play this random game"). Then later on I started a singleplayer world, I hit down a couple trees and started - slowly - building a house at the top of a hill. Then a spider came along, climbed the wall, and killed me.
My first game on minecraft, was actually pretty good, compared to the other ones one seen on the thread.
When I first spawned, I had 1-2 minutes of clicking(not holding) the ground. After gathering a few dirt blocks, I tried punching down a tree. To my amazement, I had removed a large chunk of a tree. At this moment, I had NO idea what crafting was. I then proceeded to build a house out of solid tree trunks. Later that night, I heard a Raaaaghh noise outside my house. After punching through my wall(no door :3) I was attacked by a zombie. This being my first encounter with a mob, I freaked out, holding the mine button down. Because of my failure, I died. After that horrific loss, I looked at the wiki, and learned crafting. I became less n00b after that.
I played on a multiplayer server, I don't like being a loner
I tried to get some dirt, didn't realize you had to hold the button and kept clicking it...
It turned night. I went to the town shelter.
I then posted in the chat that "Breaking that thing with grass on it sure as hell is hard, right?"
They were like "Lol wtf you noob, you have to hold the button"
I felt so much like a noob as far as I can remember, then I built a house out of cobblestones, after getting wood tools and diggin down.
Wooden houses didn't(and still don't) appeal to me much.
Terrifying. XD I had watched several tutorials so I kind of knew what I was doing, but not really. I had dug myself a hole in the side of a mountain and sat there, making basic wood tools and stuff like that. I decided that a wood sword and no armor was good enough to go outside at night, so I did. There was a skeleton right outside. So I went back inside. I sat in front of the door all night, waiting for morning. And a zombie popped up RIGHT IN FRONT of the door. I jumped big time and scooted back and tried to hide.

Explored the area around my spawn. It was a swamp. I had a friend giving me tips from time to time. He said, collect both kinds of mushroom and as much wood as you can. Night came, I dug out a hole and sat there in the dark starving with wood and mushrooms not knowing what to do with them to make them edible. My friends came back 30 minutes later and I told him those mushrooms were useless, but at least I had my dirt house, a crafting table, a door, some torches and a chest by then.
About two hours into the game I fell down in a ravine and creepers said "Hi". I then concluded that Minecraft was the best game ever because "Most of the time you manage to be realatively safe and yet it only takes a second for thing to go horribly horribly wrong."
Started about a month before 1.3 came out, when I first made a world I collected some wood, spent about 10 minutes figiuring out how to open my inventory. Build a small stone box for the night while having monsters wail around it. Come morning I make a small square house then die and spent 20 minutes looking for it. Never found it.

I first played new 1.3.2 pc version 2 weeks ago and have been hooked.
My first time was sooo fun! I made a dirt camp, and said hey lets dig a mine! went down and ran out of torches, (oh noes) I found a cave system and got so lost i tried digging up to the surface and came up in the ocean with no land in sight. I managed to swim to land, and got owned by a creeper I didn't see sneak up behind me.then i got smart and paused game and read up on wiki for tips.
My current biggest question is when starting random seeds, are there villages in every seed?
I had seen a few Let's Plays before hand, so I knew some basic things (crafting table, tools, etc), and right away built a plank house. I was obsessed with torches (I still am), and so I needed to mine A LOT because I kept using all my coal... so I built a mine under my house but I was sooo paranoid that mobs would break my trapdoor and eat me in my sleep (I thought mobs spawned underground even when it was lit).. Then I learned about signs. I labeled literally EVERYTHING in my house. Then I thought I was the most awesome advanced minecrafter ever.. then I learned otherwise.
my friends on the phone were helping me and were calling me a lucky a hole cus i found clay in 1.4 :P. yea i had a funny cobble and clay block home and didnt think of conserving anything. Plus i thought rails were cool so i built a bunch plus lots of stupid builds like a bridge across 10 blocks haha
I spent the first day trying to make a pick. The noob I was I could not figure out how to get cobble or eat. The one minecraft guide I was using never showed wooden tools. Then night came! I had no shelter built. I spent the whole night standing in a small dip in some tall grass watching monsters play over by my spawn point. I made it through the night without being attacked. The next day I built a dirt shelter. Then I found the wiki
I haven't yet...

That was my first real minecraft survival experience.

This concludes this fail of a tale(RHYME!).
