My favorites would be fire aspect(Pyro a wesomeness!)Fortune, silk and knockback. I don't take the time to get XP though...You can trick people into traps in mines with ore blocks

My luck with enchantments sucks. I usually get either Efficency I/II and maybe Unbreaking I. The only thing I ever seem to be lucky with is Armor. I usually get a decently high Projectile or Blast Protection. I don't have to worry about that anymore though (unless Better Enchanting doesn't update to 1.2).

in my opinion, thats a horrble enchant. Every time i get Silk Touch, i go and bank the item in a chest.
I have no use for silk touch besides picking up grass blocks, which i dont even need often. I also use it to pick up diamond blocks to save incase i dont have a fortune pick, which doesnt happen very often.
Silk Touch is great if you need Glowstone blocks (blocks, not dust) because Fortune doesn't work as well on Glowstone (dust is capped at 4 per block regardless of fortune level). If you want the dust, use fortune, because you'll still get more on average than if you don't, but if you want the blocks, it's better to get them directly with Silk-Touch than to re-make them from the dust.
what's so great about the silk touch enchant ment? It wastes coal. But then again making smooth stone also uses coal.
It's not really that great of an enchantment after all the nerfs applied to it...but it is one of the rarest enchantments out there. Level 24 on a diamond pick is the lowest I've ever seen it.

I did get Silk Touch on an iron pick at Level 40 or something... but yeah, those are rare, you're right.

Silk touch is a double edged sword on a diamond pickaxe.
Sure it's nice to have for those blocks that you want to collect without breaking them, but the silk touch also makes the pickaxe almost useless for normal use. Mining diamonds with silk touch is just pointless unless you want the diamond ore blocks as decoration.
Mining smoothstone might be nice, but I personally think that is a waste of durability as it's so easy to smelt cobblestone into smoothstone if you need it.
My best enchant was 'bout level fourty, on a diamond pickaxe.

It's been two weeks since and it's still only at half durability. Unbreaking is boss.
I have been playing this game for a quite a while and in my opinion the best level to enchant things is 42 at this level i have gotten a diamond pick axe fortune 3 unbreaking 3 efficiency 5 on a diamond axe i got silk touch and never enchanted one ever again on a shovel i got unbreaking 3 efficiency 5 and on a sword i got knock back fire aspect looting and sharpness 2
I like most sword enchantments, but F. Aspect is almost useless to me as I always light mobs on fire, no matter what I'm using. I forget what my best enchant was. :I
I've always tried to get a good enchantment on my iron pickaxe, but all I got was Efficiency. Until now (I mean, now), I decided to do a level 24 enchantment. I translated the... whatever their called, and I translated, "Stretch beast beast demon". I was like, "Dafuq?..." I decided to choose that enchantment and got,

Awesome enchantment. I always aim for Unbreaking III, Efficiency IV, and Fortune III or Silk Touch on a pickaxe.
My best item enchanted ever: Diamond Sword w/ Looting III, Knockback II, and Sharpness IV. It's almost dead now, but I got another one like it, except without the knockback.
